Called in by a passerby, no one at the "school" caught the violent act!

2) is this the wonderful “socialization” that homeschoolers are missing? ( Just wondering.)
3) There are schools that are sooo horrific that it would be better for the child to NEVER attend! This is true even if the child were to remain totally illiterate and innumerate.( I **seriously** mean it!) Is being stabbed worth it?
4) This school will be full to the brim with kids the very next day it is open. Stupid parents! Free babysitting is powerfully addictive.
What is this Orwellian “edu-speak”? ( eyeroll)
i am a substitute teacher in anchorage, and have subbed at service high school. a few weeks ago i subbed for a math teacher there. shortly after i arrived, a student informed me that there had been a terrible fight in the hall just before i got there. none of the students informed the principal or security. i guess no one “saw” it. service HS is a fairly “safe” high school. i would have expected something like this at EAst or Bartlett. Sad. Let’s pray for the victim.
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Are you referring to Y/O? If so, I think that Y/O = year old.
Odd don't you think? Is this Orwellian eduspeak?
I hadn’t listened to that. I didn’t know what in the world you were talking about! lol! That was a spokesmen from the Police Department though. I have NO idea why someone would say male half and female half. Yes it is very odd.
The kids at Service (and South) have the dough to buy (and sell) drugs. Lots of drugs.
West is the scarest, Bartlett has the most police calls/arrests. OF course, not a lick on the level of violence seen in Las Vegas or just about any of the larger Califlower schools.
All situational.
HAving fun as a sub? Been hassled by the Union folk yet?
yes.
IS there another meaning for Y/O coupled with a number. I thought it to be a common convention.
Sorry for any confusion.
Police spoke-man was recently replaced, this must be the audition period....
“Student critical after Service High stabbing (Anchorage, AK)”
“Ya, you missed an artery there, ya hoser freshman, ya! And...geez, you didn’t even sharpen the knife first...whaddya, a lazy Canuckistanian or somethin’?”
Your post was not what it was about. On the audio recording at the site, a rep from the police department described them as the female half and male half. I had not listened to the recording until wintertime told me about it. I assumed she thought the Y/O was something else like a fraction or something. I am the one that caused the confusion. Sorry!
No sweat. I make so few posts due the confusion I seems to cause.
This is just one of a large number of good reasons to homeschool, of course.
Lol! I used to be so intimidated to post on here because everyone on here seemed so smart. I was afraid of making a fool of myself. Oh well if I ever make too big a fool of myself I will just change screen names. LOL!
I enjoy subbing, for the most part. it’s hard to get sub jobs now that the economy sucks. everyone who lost a job is doing sub work - or so it seems. it has never been so hard to “grab” a job than the last few months.
as for unions....yeah, i’ll take them on. i had a lady call the other day from Obama’s Organizing for America. I gave her a talking to. all she did was laugh nervously. :)
