It may be that a black hole’s purpose is to keep a ‘chain reaction’ from happening at the center of the galaxy, by absorbing the intense radiation.
I don't know about Space-Time.
But, Time is a measurement of movement, and Space is a measurement of location.
Space is based on the idea of a fixed position (which isn't true).
Movement is fixed, so time is constant. However, human awareness of it is not.
From what I read, it will take another year to get it up to speed enough to energize a big enough 'bang' to simulate the beginning of Everything. (and maybe the end of everything. Which, since Obama is President, doesn't bother me that much).
