Plenty of celebrities issued crazy statements in their efforts to defend director and rapist Roman Polanski but none went as far as author Gore Vidal did when he labeled Polanski's victim a "young hooker."
In an Oct. 28 interview with The Atlantic's John Meroney about a variety of topics, Vidal claimed he didn't "give a f---" about the Polanski case. "Look, am I going to sit and weep every time a young hooker feels as though she's been taken advantage of?"

He was prosecuted. He pled guilty. He just hasn’t served his time.
And her life is made miserable everytime it comes up in the press. If he had just served his time back in the 70’s, it would be part of her past. But he didn’t. So she has to deal with the press time after time.
So for her wanting all of that to go away, you are fine with her being slandered.

I’m not even sure what Gore Vidal’s original claim to fame was. Hair dresser? Designer? Author? Seriously, I don’t even know.
She is fine with him being on the loose and is on record as saying he should be left alone. Why should I care what some liberal hack thinks of her? If the woman wants him to be left alone and presumably raping others, yeah, I'm fine with her being slandered.
