Duggar family welcomes first grandchild, Mackynzie Renee Duggar

The supersize Duggar clan just got a tiny bit bigger.

The reality TV family has welcomed its first grandchild, Mackynzie Renee Duggar, People.com reports. Her 17 aunts and uncles and paternal grandparents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, are doubtless thrilled about the latest branch on the family tree.

Josh Duggar - the oldest of Jim Bob and Michelle's brood of 18 - and his wife, Anna, had Mackynzie at home with a midwife and a doula in attendance.

As the big brother to 17 siblings, Josh is no stranger to babies, and he was a very involved and attentive dad from the start. He was the one who told his wife they were expecting, after she was too nervous to look at the pregnancy test, according to People.

He also read and sang to his daughter while she was still in the womb, and made sure his wife got all the attention she deserved.

"I ask Anna what she needs," Josh told People in July. "I talk to the baby and we involve her in our conversations. When Anna and I are talking to each other, we'll say, 'So, how do you like that, Mackynzie?' "

The new dad was also front and center for their baby's arrival. "Josh was excited to participate in the birth as well," a family friend told the magazine. "They are both so happy."

The baby's name is a combination of Josh's cousin's name, Mackynzie, and Anna's middle name, Renee. They haven't decided whether they'll give all their children names that begin with "M," which would be in keeping with a family tradition; Josh's parents famously gave all of their 18 kids "J" names.

They are a bizarre family with an obscene number of kids.

And they are supporting those kids without a dime of federal money, and those kids seem likely to grow up to be productive, educated members of the conservative Middle Class.

I would rather see them have 20 kids, than see a welfare mom have even one.

I was thinking MacKenzie. That’s a bad enough name to give a girl. Why the goofy spelling, too?

You got it! At one of our local schools, we have an unwed, under 30 yr old, mother that has at least 7 children, all with different fathers.

She takes total advantage of all things free to her and every free public option there is......low rent housing, free breakfasts, free lunches, free trips to Walmart for free school clothes and free school supplies.

Her kids are also turning out to be nothing but smart aleck thugs with low IQs.

At least the Duggars support themselves and actually teach their children to live by the word of God, not just preach it.

And all with the same first name.

Every time someone post a story on the Duggar family, out comes the people who resent, even hate them for having a large family. They think large families is an awful thing. If these people were on the Government teat, then I would agree with them somewhat, but they are not. In fact all families can take lessons from the Duggar’s.

Sad, really because the Duggar’s are a beautiful family, conservative, Christian, and fully self supporting. And almost none of these posters even know who the Duggars are. They see a headline, read a paragraph or two, and post a hateful reply, without thinking.

Welfare is supposed to be a safety net, not a hammock. I could support requiring sterilization as a condition for receiving funds.

There's the power of the Dems. They supply "community organizers" who know about every single freebie program, as well as how to apply for them. In exchange, the recipients BETTER be good little Dem supporters whenever called upon.

Mackynzie Renee

Puke. I hate those made-up, white-trash names.

That being said, congratulations and God's blessings to baby and family.

Why do you say Mackynzie Renee is a “made-up, white trash name?”

Mackynzie?

Can’t be too odd. The article says the name came from Josh’s cousin.

And back in Junior High in the early 60’s, I had a friend whose last name was spelled this way.

Apparently it’s an alternate spelling in Scotland.

He owns a couple of businesses.

They are also very frugal with their money. They buy everything second-hand and in cash.

The house they live in was built by them (with their own sweat of the brow), and it is theirs free and clear.

IMO, After witnessing the public cat fight between John and Kate......the Dugger’s need to counsel John and Kate on parenting and adult behavior.... The Duggers are good people that are raising great kids that will make the world a little better because they are in it.....
