There is an extensive body of writing from both sides of the political aisle that has analyzed the extraordinary depths of hatred leveled at former President George W. Bush.
His birth into a wealthy and politically connected family is where a lot of the animus starts. His rejection of his Connecticut roots and adoption of a rugged Texan persona naturally riled his birth-constituency. His disjointed speaking style also alienated many others - especially those who covered him in the Northeastern media. Naturally, some of his initiatives were controversial. His allies say he didn't do enough.

And yet somehow the media completely gives a pass to 'Uhh, I just want to, uhh, I, uhh want to, uh, be, uh clear..."
I miss GW Bush, a real man.
I miss Laura Bush, a real lady.
I continue to believe that underlying all the hatred was the fact that he was an unapologetic Christian believer. For the libertines that makes him a visceral threat to their sex-obsessed identities; for the chattering classes, that means he has to be an indiot.
No. They hate him for the same reason they hate Palin, and Thomas, and Bork, and you and me.
Its what they do. Its who they are.
They tried with Oliver North. It didn't work. America loved him.
As much as I grew to dislike W’s presidency, I would have him back any time over this clown in the Oval Office now.
I remember all the stories about Bush saying “nuk-u-lar”. Definite proff he was an idiot although it is a common mistake. Jimmy Carter who trained under Rickover pronounced it nuk-ee-er and they claimed he was highly intelligent.Makes you go hmmm
Remember the derisiveness in the media when he used a teleprompter? And yet Obama can’t even construct a comprehensible three world sentence without TOTUS.
IIRC - and there is SO much I would rather forget about the Carter years - Jimmy also pronounces it “nu-qu-leer”.
I agree.
Tarp,Immigration Reform,Deficit Spending,Screwing Up the War in Iraq for 4 Years,Totally Blowing the response to Hurricane Katrina. And of course his “ I have to drop my capitalist ideals, to save the capitalist system”remark. But even with all of this. He was not and is not a Socialist such as we have now. So i would welcome “ W “ back with open arms.
Amazing << Hear this. Feel this, and tell me that this isn't music.
Oh, dear...
This article is an interesting analysis as to why the ‘Rats are failing on Health Care Takeover (labeled “Reform”). The politics of personal destruction, used so effectively against so many individual conservatives, are only effective against individuals. They don’t work well against groups. No one person has emerged as a leader of the grass roots resistance to the takeover of medicine. As a result, the attacks have been against nameless masses of Americans, and they’ve mostly fallen flat.
Check out the entire article. It’s very informative.
Personally what I hated about him was how he governed like a democrat, especially in the last 2 years. What a lost opportunity. For 4 year we had control for the first time since 1930 and our leaders acted like democrats and ruined it.
“This article is an interesting analysis”
It is.
The title is unfortunate though as most replies in this thread including one from me are just about Bush. ;)
BTTT
And this article goes for those so-called Conservatives who jumped on the LEFT WING bandwagon.
Enjoy Obama... many of y’all helped to get him elected.
