In reading Homer’s “Odyssey,” the first place visited by Odysseus was Hades. Hades, at that tine, included nice places such as the Elysium, and places such as the hill Sisyphus was tormented with - for punishment.
Christians later invented our modern Hell — as described in Dante’s “Inferno” and Miltons “Paradise Lost.”
