SHARON, SC (NBC) - It's a horrific crime one that's hard to even hear: a dog killed, its body cut up with a chainsaw.
The little boy from South Carolina who owned him is devastated. His mother says she can't bear to tell him the truth.
The little boy has a backyard full of things that are fun, but one thing is missing: his dog named Buddy.
Jennifer McAlister has a picture frame full of the dogs she's loved, but she loved Buddy the best.
She bought the lab for her son Gage on his birthday.
"We went and Gage picked him out and named him on the way home," said McAlister.
Buddy and Gage became fast friends until Buddy disappeared.
"We were walking and he said 'you know I murdered your sister's dog,'" said McAlister's sister, Brittany.
Brittany McAlister says her cousin admitted he used a chainsaw to torture and kill Buddy.
The family isn't telling Gage what happened, but they are speaking out because they want to keep the dog's memory alive.
"How can you replace a dog like that? Big eyes and a pink nose...you can't find a dog like that," said Jennifer McAlister.
James McAlister, 19, is in jail in York County. He is charged with ill treatment of animals (torture), stealing dogs and petty larceny.
As for Gage, he says he doesn't want another dog

It’s bad enough that bastard could do that to any animal, but to a Lab? That little psycho f*** needs to fry.

It would have been an unholy mess.

As for the breed, I am a Lab owner myself. No friendlier animal. It says something about the perp. He was looking for an easy mark.

I recall seeing a story a couple of weeks ago about an inhumanly vicious gangsta girl in Brooklyn that put a kitten into a 500 degree oven.
These stories make me sick to my stomach. The torture killing of an innocent animal is one of the most despicable crimes imaginable.

I lost my weenie dog,a companion of twelve years.I had no idea I had been feeding her poison dog food,which was her favorite, I.E Old Roy.
My companion dog was a large Australian/blue healer mix who was a very large dog.She was fortunately able to weather the storm so to speak,as she weighed 70 lbs.
When everything came down,my weenie dropped within three days.
I had to have her put down.
My large dog took quite some time to realize she was the one and only big dog.Great Dog
Last month after having the house totally remodeled,I had been banished from smoking and was sitting on a chair on the back porch,when my big girl came lumbering around the corner,she fell over,yellpped three times,laid her head down.
I jumped off the porch,she looked at me, laid her head down as I was patting her and passed away.
Twenty two years of friendship gone.

I really cannot imagine what I would do to something, and this male is a “thing”. All I do know, is that it would be so bad my American Indian Ancestors would turn away in horror.
