“the pictures beamed direct from the lunar surface were lost almost as soon as they were recorded.”
And we’re to believe that really happened— NASA lost the tapes? I just can’t believe that.
Stuff like walking on the moon for the first time is just routine stuff, like any other day. NASA probably just had some intern kid in charge of the video footage.
So, were these Apollo films hidden in a musty fiber box under James Angleton's old desk?
I have no trouble believing a giant US government bureaucracy, aided by a giant Australian government bureaucracy, could lose these tapes. But I’m quite sure this won’t “lay the conspiracy theories to rest” as the NASA officials seem to imagine. People believe in conspiracy theories because they want to, not because the available evidence supports the theory. This long-delayed appearance of the clearer original images will just be added to the conspiracy theorists’ arsenal, with claims that the resurfacing of the tapes after 40 years is implausible, this is just how long it took NASA to cook up good fakes, since they had to wait for technology to improve, yadda, yadda.
That the tapes were misplaced has been well known for a long time. This is very easy to do in an institution that keeps tons and tons of data. At my laboratory, we have a warehouse of data storage packed ceiling high with mostly dusty storage.
I had heard a couple years ago that NASA was making an attempt to discover whether these tapes were gone forever or just misplaced. I am excited that they have found them!
Hey, this is the same NASA that helped fudge numbers for the global warming hoax - opps, I mean 'global warmning eco emergency... I mean, not "fudge" but provide... I mean... how dare you! /s
