It has five bedrooms, nine fireplaces, and an expansive cook's kitchen for an owner who takes uncommon pride in his culinary skills. For Governor Deval Patrick, the stately Colonial on Hinckley Road in Milton also holds 20 years of family memories.
That aside, Patrick and his wife, Diane, are putting their house on the market for $1.925 million. They have declared themselves empty nesters, have decided to leave their beloved Milton, and are looking to buy a condominium in the city.
"The kids are gone, and I think Diane and I realized it had been months since the last time we were in the dining room," Patrick said in an interview yesterday, after a tour by three dozen realtors set off a buzz in his neighborhood. "It's just weird to have all that space and just the two of us and the dog rattling around in there. It's really time."
One daughter, Sarah, 23, graduated from New York University and is working in New York. Katherine, 19, will be a sophomore at Smith College next fall and is not living at home this summer.

And you bumped this to Breaking News because.....?
It broke today....also he maybe leaving Mass to move to D.C.
I think that’s likely. The cover story is that he’s moving to a condo in Boston, but I think he’s making himself more mobile so that he can take a job with Obama at a moment’s notice.
Wasn’t he building a mansion somewhere else, Berkshires??
He still has Sweet Pea Farm out in Happy Valley. He can move out there for the Summer and “write his book”.
It has five bedrooms, nine fireplaces, and an expansive cook’s kitchen
All in the name of global warming
Danica Patrick? (someone insert gratuitous DP pics please)
Who cares?
You post this to BN because of a “maybe”????
His current house is about 8 miles from the state house. Also this is not a good time to be selling.
Another interesting fact from the story; Patrick bought the house for $550K and now owes $1.28 million on it along with a 300K line of credit.
The two houses cost him $38K a month.
Yes,
And it is all done.
Who the hell are you, the breaking news police?
Because his approval rating is around 38%, he looks weak for re-election.
No, I’m just a guy with some common sense.
The sale of a house is NOT breaking news.
Yeah and the Berlin wall coming down was just a falling wall. Or the Watergate break-in was just a small-time break-in.
The Mass. governer selling his house and possibly leaving for D.C. creating a governors election in Mass is breaking news. And it is at least breaking news as any other story currently on breaking news.
Don’t you just love how “breaking news” has turned into “Mayor Bill fills pothole on main street.”
I didn’t know that I needed help but then again your the guy with all the common sense. I’ll check with you first the next time I post an article. Thanks for the advice.
LOL!
And the guy really believes this qualifies as breaking news, like it should make the news at the top of the hour!
Unbelievable.
Hope you come back and post an article when a storm passes through and brings a tree down on the car of a city councilman.
