Open Invitation
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. —Hebrews 4:16

Versailles was made the capital of France by King Louis XIV in 1682 and remained the capital (except for a short time) until 1789 when it was moved back to Paris. The beautiful palace of Versailles included an opulent 241-foot-long Hall of Mirrors. When a visitor approached the king, he had to curtsy every five steps as he walked the entire distance to meet the king sitting on his dazzling silver throne!

Foreign emissaries to France submitted to that humiliating ritual to court the French monarch’s favor toward their country. By contrast, our God, the King of kings, invites His people to come to His throne freely. We can come to Him anytime—no advance appointments and no bowing required!

How grateful we should be that our heavenly Father is so much more inviting! “Through [Christ] we . . . have access by one Spirit to the Father” (Eph. 2:18). Because of this, the writer of Hebrews urges us to “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).

Have you responded to God’s open invitation? Come in awe and gratitude, for the God of this universe is willing to hear your petitions anytime.

You need to talk with God today,
Your heart’s bowed down with care;
Just speak the words you have to say—
He’ll always hear your prayer. —Hess

Access to God’s throne is always open.

Dawning

The dawning comes, and I awake
to see the dew’d grass gleam
in soft morning light it seems
as I walk, beside this old lake

The scent of this day is but awakening
yet, I detect the smell of beginning day
bacon and coffee fresh, and home I stray
as cardinals welcome with their singing

Cool air, with the touch of life
energizes me and I feel so alive
my day lift, to new levels it strives
and for the moment, I’m free of strife

Considering the struggles around this world, and the lack of real emotion or concern from the whitehouse, the following is my thoughts (and no I didn’t miss capitalize whitehouse, until he acts as a president, he dishonors the house!)

Freedom’s Herald?

Gonna get even for the long past
gonna make a brutal new world
Gonna see that hated flag furled
gonna set the claws of socialism fast

A king without a crown, to bow
to other kings, fills me with dread
Unspeaking of Iranian student dead
seeking just to be free somehow

The path ahead, will turn many to pain
leaving others, filled with shattered hope
The consequences of change led by a dope
makes me ask, have we at last become insane

You’ve got that right, Johnn! He dishonors the People’s House all the time. He doesn’t seem to realize its not really his house. One way he dishonors it is having those news networks come in there and traipse all over the place. And broadcast from there in the Blue Room and other rooms...its trashy! I hate it. Its “our house” and I don’t want those people in there kissing up to him and his health care plan!

I fear that by the time enough folks actually decide he’s wrong for the country, we won’t have a country, only the remains of another badly run communist failure.

The world is in upheaval, the terrorists are striving for Pakistani Nukes and say their for us, we have our energy plan depending on those who hate us, and our economy is about to make the 1929 financial mess look like a great day in Amerika, if the government is allowed to ruin it any further!

We need a leader and we have a commissar instead, interested in cementing his power, not in defending, supporting or improving America.

I’m beginning to think there are no longer enough good men to fill the bridge at Concord this time, and the ‘King’ will see that we never stand as tall, or with as much honor as in the past.

I’m afraid that while our young men and women were in far places defending this country, we lost her to the ‘leftist enemy within’, and we leave them a bigger mess then they would have inherited on their return. We let them down, and now seemingly do nothing as America becomes Amerika, a wreck of a nation, and a people, even as those young people die defending us who don’t deserve it.

Iranian students stand up and die demanding freedom, and we sit around and can’t get off our butts, as Washington strips us of our rights and money, and future. Clearly, we’ve gotten the government we deserve!

An angry old Vet

Eddy Arnold - Slowpoke lyrics

You keep me waitin’
Till it’s gettin’ aggravatin’
You’re a slowpoke
I wait and worry
But you never seem to hurry
You’re a slowpoke.

Time means nothing to you
I wait and then late again
Eight o’clock, nine o’clock
Quarter to ten.

Why should I linger
Everytime you snap your finger
Little slowpoke
Why can’t you hasten
When you see the time’s a wastin’
You’re a slowpoke.

Dear, why should I keep trying to change you
It’s not the thing to do
I guess I’ll have to learn to be
A slowpoke too.

-— Instrumental -—

Why should I linger
Everytime you snap your finger
Little slowpoke
Why can’t you hasten
When you see the time’s a wastin’
You’re a slowpoke.

Dear, why should I keep trying to change you
It’s not the thing to do
I guess I’ll have to learn to be
A slowpoke too...

Meg, Your Fathers Day thread was wonderful.
I loved all of your Father reply graphics.
Thank you for this special thread and for always being a perfect hostess.

I meant to get back yesterday but I must have gotten too much sun.
I did not feel well last night.
As soon as our son left, I headed for bed.
Poor Marissa had to fend for herself last night.
She brought a book to my bed and stayed with me for about 40 minutes.

Have a beautiful Monday, Meg.

Good Monday to all at Amy's Place.

The following poem is wise if you live in your own tank. Otherwise I don't often prefer pacifism (rarr!).

Lessons From A Tortoise

When trouble attacks, I make no noise
Simply take on the foe with poise.
Curling into a ball
I retreat into my shell
The hard familiar territory
Makes me resolute that after this hell
All shall be well.

They kick me and toss me around.
Take my heart and break it in two.
Hurt of violence only we victims know
Scaring us to death, the oppressors go.
But I don’t fear them now
As I am faith bound
For the key to survival I have found.

I learnt this defense from a tortoise
Enter your shell don’t think twice,
Harden against your enemy
And plot your counter-attack.
Do not forget to take it slow and steady
It will win you the race
And your hardened shell-like-mask
Might just be the saving grace.

Don’t mock the ‘tortoise’ you ‘cruel rabbits’
They’ll make a comeback and tear you to bits.
We, the so-called meek have learnt our Lessons from a tortoise.
When trouble attacks, we’ll make no noise
Entering our shell we will retaliate and take on the foe with poise
Now before you rabbits begin your brutal games
It’s your time to think twice

A SIMPLE HUG

There's something in a simple hug
That always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home
And makes it easier to part.
A hug is a way to share the joy
And sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say
They like you 'cause you're you.
Hugs are meant for anyone
For whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbor,
Or a cuddly teddy bear.
A hug is an amazing thing --
It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling
But can't find the words to say.
It's funny how a little hug
Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language,
It's always understood.
And hugs don't need new equipment,
Special batteries or parts -
Just open up your arms
And open up your hearts.

“Amen brother, preach on!”

Sad to say, I’m making plans to start a company producing my books as paper, CD and download products, and I am considering having to move my start up company out of the U.S. simply to insure I have a company and a future in tax happy, anti-business Amerika. I have some investor looking into the business as a tax haven, so maybe I can be up and running before the economic collapse Washington is working so hard to bring about.

My wife is big on hugging. She hugs everybody, both arriving or leaving. Not real keen on it myself.

I used to attend a church that hugged alot so, I would go a little late so everybody would already be seated or singing when I got there.

I've become a hugger as I've gotten older.
Don't really know why except that it conveys how I feel better than the words I say.

I'm also a slow poke. :)
