I live in an area where the leash laws are strictly enforced, for cats and dogs. We seldom see strays, but when we do, they most likely belong to a careless neighbor.

But folks around here also like to bring them in and care for them, and if that means spaying or neutering them, they do that.

I never bragged about my cat being able to hunt. You said that cats can’t hunt unless taught by their mothers, which is utter and complete nonsense. Then, after one of your trashy rebuttals, you come to this conclusion: “I’ve seen it too.” (cats hunting even when not taught by their mothers). In other words, you are a liar.

For what it’s worth.
Those of us who have CFIDS have had to fight for everything we have. Those who don’t have it and don’t know anyone who does, often don’t understand how life-changing it can be.

Still, and besides that...loving animals is basic to me. They are great comforts, and for that reason alone, my hackles go up when abuse is obvious. Keeping animals confined indoors is doing them a favor that cannot be measured.

The thing about it is that indoor/outdoor cats tend to live longer, healthier lives than strictly indoor or strictly outdoor cats. This has been backed up by numerous studies. Cats don't get quite the adequate nutrition (cats are carnivores) or proper excercise living strictly indoors.

Having said that, living in town I have to keep all of my cats strictly indoors but I do have one that I can walk on a leash (trained him when he was a kitten). It really depends on the environment the cats are in. In an urban setting I say no way but in the country a cat can do just fine being an indoor/outdoor pet as long as it's spayed/neutered.

Thank you randomhero97. I agree with you totally. When I was replying to MF I was having a difficult time getting her to understand that it would have been much more cruel to make my 3 feral cats live strictly indoors after having spent their lives for the most part, I assume, outdoors. We are very fortunate that we live in a rural oceanside area, so there’s almost no chance of them falling victim to the hazards of urban living.
