Reward Offered for Serial Cat Killer
miaminewtimes ^ | May. 19 2009 | Kyle Munzenrieder

Posted on 05/19/2009 1:09:40 PM PDT by JoeProBono

A vicious killer loose in Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay is believed to be responsible for the death and mutilation of over nineteen cats, most of them family pets.

The killer mutilates and skins the animals, and leaves them for their owners to find.

The Human Society has issues a $2500 reward to individuals with information that can lead to the identification, arrest and conviction of the killer, according to CBS 4.

Unsurprisingly, people who brutally murder animals for fun are not usually well adjusted in other areas of life. Men who abuse animals are much more likely to abuse women. While almost all serial killers have a history of torturing and viciously killing small animals.

If only he had killed pitbulls, there would be those here at FR lauding his efforts.

I love pets, dogs, cats, birds ... pets are essentially members of a family.

I think capitolism should determine the punishment. Ever board a dog or cat while you are on vacation? Typical rates are ~$30/day, plus vetinary bills.

So, when they catch this guy - if you want to throw the book at him for animal cruelty, that’s fine with me. But let’s throw the book at him for each year of board that has been invested in each creature. Whether I board my pet, or a commercial entity does, there is a cost associated with that animal. Let’s have the perp pay these bills.

So, 10 cats, averaging 4 yrs old works out to $438,000 plus vet bills. So, let’s put him in jail, take his house, his car, his retirement and I think we’ll all be surprised with the dramatic decrease in this sort of crime.

Same thing goes for cops who barge into the wrong house, and immediately kill the owner’s dogs. Kill my pet and hide behind your badge? No, I’m taking your car, your home, your money and put a lein against future earnings. Again, if this were done - I think the number of cowards who get off killing dogs would plummet.

people who brutally murder animals for fun

This sicko skins them and leaves them for their owners to find, so his/her intent appears to be to cause tremendous pain to the owners, not to have fun. ...although the nutball might consider that to be fun.

I'm willing to bet it's not this type of person at all given that the cats are mostly pets who are outdoor cats not feral cats and the cat killer is leaving them to be found. That strikes me as a message. The kind of message one of those whackos who see cats as murderous predators of birds would leave.

Expect the kitties were allowed to go outdoors. If so, many terrible things can happen. Not excusing this sick SOB; there’s a special place in Hell for people who hurt innocent children and animals. Still, better to keep small pets inside for their safety.

When he's caught I say give him some alone time with these cats.

Too bad the Bible isn’t always taken word-for-word. Otherwise, this guys’ punishment would be being skinned and left by the road for dead.

There is a reason for “An eye for an eye...”

The killer is one sick dude or dudette.

Would be best to keep their cats inside or on a leash.

We adopted several cats here in Miami (actually, I think one of them adopted us!)
They are inside because I got tired of removing the remains of their brothers and sisters from the street and sidewalk around my house after they were killed by our wonderful drivers here.

Having said that, I actually would not mind if this dude (whoever it is) came around here and tried this, especially if he tried to get in my house.

Florida has a different set of rules for this sort of thing.

When they find this scum; please let me have 1 minute. I would like to introduce this POS to my male dog who does not like people who hurts cats. He is 120 pounds of solid muscle, btw.

19 cats is a lot of cats.

It ain’t easy to catch that many even if they are pets.

The perp has to be “working” at it.

If so, somebody has seen something suspicious.
