Friday, Walgreens pulled them from the shelves. A local radio
host from Tampa called the corporate headquarters for Walgreens,
and the guy on the phone said it was a corporate decision.

Seeing as the corporate headquarters is in Deerfield, IL. a suburb of Chicago
I'm thinking there was some pressure from someone somewhere.

Okay, first of all, everyone is giving too much thought to their gift ideas. Obama would likely buy most of his gifts at the airport gift shop, soooo, they would be as follows:

to French dude: Les Miserables collectors edition DVD and a small Eiffel Tower—cause it’s in Paris...get it?

to German dude: A model of a Volkswagen and a beer stein—cause they drink beer in Germany...get it?

to the Italian dude: A jar of Newman’s Own pasta sauce and a coupon good for one free deep dish Chicago style pizza.

to the Turkey dude: A pan of his mother-in-law’s Thanksgiving stuffing with giblets and some cans of cranberry sauce...cause he’s from Turkey-—get it?

to the Saudi dude: A copy of the Beverly Hillbillies movie DVD and a model of a Texas oil derrick—to remind them that we used to have oil in America, but not so much any more, thanks to him! Gee thanks, can I bow down to you again?

to the Spain dude: A lifetime subscription to “Bullfighting Today” magazine, and the Rosetta Stone “Spanish” volume set. Ole!

to the Iranian and North Korean dudes: America, on a platter. Hope that’s enough!

I swear that guy got the memo on tasteful and meaningful gifts for international leaders mixed up with his kids’ wish list for Christmas... so we could maybe expect things like a pink Nintendo DS with a couple virtual pet games for the Prime Minister of Canada before one of his staff members catches on to what happened.
