I think 5 English born defenders died at the Alamo. If that caught the attention of Phil Collins, that might explain his fascination with the battle.

...and lots of “original Texans”...Mexicans who lived here, and were just as proud of Texas independence.

It is really cool to meet Texans who are of Mexican decent, but their families have been here for over 150 years. Even cooler when they have their Texas drawls.
