“A significant number of English emmigrants (and a handful of Scots and Welsh) were among the defenders at the Alamo...”

...and lots of “original Texans”...Mexicans who lived here, and were just as proud of Texas independence.

It is really cool to meet Texans who are of Mexican decent, but their families have been here for over 150 years. Even cooler when they have their Texas drawls.

My ancestors didn’t fight at the Alamo. Sam Houston had an agreement with them to protect their backsides from the Mexicans coming through their settlement. They were Cherokee.....with southern drawls.
