Incredible.
Anyway, they want folks to stay off the roads....6" on the driveway, and the street's a mess...more " expected today, then maybe ice...
Carolina, soo good to see you here. Have you ever read anything by the English author Elizabeth Taylor??
January to me has always seemed to be twice as long as every other month. February zips by and in March the months regain their normal length.
But not this year! Yesterday, I took down the nativity scene; the last of our Christmas decorations. So Christmas (December) just now ended. Plus, one week from today, we take to the air to get to Papua. Well, we have planned to return to Papua in the beginning of 09. Since that is next week 09 doesn’t really begin until we land in Papua (see the logic of my thinking?).
Finally, with the change in our job administration, we have a change in pay dates. It was moved up a few days. But in essence this shortens the month of January! This year, for us, January is only about 10 days long! Isn’t that cool?
The final neat thing about this January, is that in my yard here, spring has arrived. Cooler days may be ahead, but the sun is up past 5 pm (more light) and we have blooming colors already. So, in the midst of a dead winter, I can see that brighter days are ahead if we just HANG ON.
I had "walking pneumonia" in Nov. and it was not a walk in the park for me.
The main reason that I always dread January is because that is the month that the 2 most important men in my life...my husband and my dad...died. I still have tears.....
You have made a good decision not to try to get to the meeting. That is hazardous driving.
I imagine we will get it later.
(((((Carolinamom)))))
We have a LOT of snow already & more to come
Good morning.
We had a thunder/rain storm hit here about 4 this morning. Sure made a lot of noise, but hardly any rain. Dropped our temps down to 58 - which is suppose to be the high.
Wow! You must be a time traveler! That is a picture of me about two in the future. I really must get some bottom time.
OOOp! Posted too soon. I forgot to say “thank you” for the birthday wishes.
You are welcome & I envy you returning to the tropics ! I had to stop SCUBA & just do skin diving when my continual Allergy/sinus conditions caused mega problems with equalization
. Now with new meds I would probably be able to re certify & dive but Ohio is NOT MY IDEA OF GOOD DIVING!!!
Ohio isn’t my idea of good diving either. You’ve got so much going on in your life, diving sit on the back burner until you’re in a better location (for diving).
How are things with you? How’s your mom? Dogs?
Speaking of dogs, has anyone tried that new type of claw ‘clipper’? I put clipper in quotes because it doesn’t clip the toenail is sort of peels it off without slicing through it. I’m thinking of getting one before I go back.
:) Dolly I tried to find a diving picture for Jemian and couldn’t find a good one. This is a really neat one.
I have another one coming in 8 months, but I have decided to ignore it, and as my mother always said, "Just keep moving." LOL
RE: reading Elizaeth Taylor's books and short stories....I haven't read her yet, but I do intend to sample her. When Kingsley Amis lauds her writing, I know it must be good.
One of the requirements for my MA in English was that I present an oral presentation before 4 professors of an independent study of 1 or more authors. One of professors on the panel questioned my choice of reading and analyzing England's "Angry Young Men", and I told him/them that I had missed out on reading their books because I had been busy having babies when they emerged. LOL
Kingsley Amis was not one of the Angry Young Men, but along the way I found his writing to be much superior to these young English men from the "red brick" colleges and more likely to endure....hence my respect for his opinion of Elizabeth Taylor's works.
Thanks for reminding me of her...will read her after I finish re-reading the 18 novels (and 1 play) of Helen MacInnis (my current pleasurable reading project).
Dog clippers and I do not get along. If my pups yelp, I can't stand it. I don't get near their ouch factor. Still, if they yelp, it sends shivers up my spine.
Thank you very much, CM.
Jem, I have not tried the nail “grinder” myself, but 2 people that I know that have didnt like it.
Morning you two!
