Time for Republicans to throw McCain under the Bus (isn't that what he did to us?)
Vanity | 11-17-08 | Locutus of Borg

Posted on 11/17/2008 8:38:47 AM PST by prismsinc

The concept that "Bush hurt McCain" in the election is utter nonsense and fabrication by the MSM. If anything, McCain hurt Bush with his constant obstruction because of his bitterness for the 2000 primary outcome.

McCain-Feingold was the ultimate "came back to bite him in the butt" logic, and this sort of stubbornness by McCain also took out a chunk of the Republican party along with it.

Case and point: The bailout McCain approved. This was McCain's one chance to stand for conservative principles. Instead, what did he do? He supported it, and furthermore, he extended the idea in the first two debates. Even I, a loyal R voter to the end, got squealy when McCain talked about "buying up bad loans" to wait out the economy and resell them when the market rebounded. Truly shameless statism and selfishness by McCain cost us the last two election cycles. I pray we get to fix this in 2010.

McCain made Bush look like Ronald Reagan in comparison. That’s not easy.

Why would Republicans be upset with McCain?

Republicans = McCain and Bush.

Current Republicans would be happy with a bailout, amnesty and the such.

Conservatives are upset with McCain, not Republicans.

McCain, by not allowing what was needed to get elected, threw his own sorry @$$ under the bus.

Throw McCain under the bus, by all means.

That won’t change the fact that Bush was a big spending liberal in terms of domestic policy. His “compassionate conservatism” - a phrase which should make any self-respecting conservative barf - has been a disaster.

I would also point out that Bush was as pro-amnesty as McCain and he signed McCain-Feingold.

Bottom line - pointing out McCain’s sins doesn’t turn Bush into a true conservative.

“I pray we get to fix this in 2010.”

Agreed. But lets go to work right now.

The “election” is not over! As a matter of fact, O hasn’t been elected president yet and it is not too late to interrupt this fraud! It isn’t close to being over until the elector’s votes are accepted in the Joint Session of Congress on Jan 6, 2009. At the worst, we have the ball, we are down 6 points and it’s the middle of the 3d quarter.

American voters must demand that their Senators and Representatives commence now to prepare for action on or before January 6, or it may be over.

See the draft in my About page of the letter I sent to my politicians. I am not an English major and you can likely do better with your draft.

As a nation, we need to raise hell over O’s apparent disqualification instead of going passive! If you agree, talk about it with everyone you know and help get it on the national scene!

The guy should have "born to lose" tattooed across his forehead. All he had to do was pronounce four simple words "I oppose this bailout", and he'd have won easily. He had a winning edge in his hands and all he needed to do was close his fingers around it.

Donald Trump once threw a contestant off the island with prejudice on his program for refusing to seize some obvious advantage over a false notion of ethics; Trump noted that an advantage in business or anything else is rare enough that you have to seize it if you want any hope of success in life, i.e. if you can't succeed when the wind is directly at your back, how in hell would you hope to succeed under any other conditions?

I respect McCain because he is an honest-to-G-d war hero.

But he’s also a spineless RINO.

McCain is the king of stupid comments made to supporters. Things like his little rant about American’s wouldn’t pick lettuce for $50 dollars an hour come to mind.

I wonder if McCain and his campaign staff really wanted to win the election. They didn't want to stop the “historic election of a black man as POTUS” or some other nonsense.

Now Governor Palin wanted to win the election and that I think might have been the source of friction between the two.

He had a winning edge in his hands and all he needed to do was close his fingers around it.

McCain had several winning issues in his hands, from drilling in ANWR to the defense of marriage, yet he consistently refused to push his advantage.

If, indeed, we can throw him off the Republican bus, I say we back up at least once to make sure he doesn't get up. (Figuratively speaking, of course.)

I agree, yes. Bipartisanship as Bush defined it didn’t help. Bush I think left domestic policy to the Legislature, which is the appropriate approach during war. I think as Paulson suceeded with the bailout, so too did Bush relent with amnesty by letting the likes of McCain coerce him into thinking amnesty was a good idea. NOT!

McCain obstructed and obstructed. He is in large part responsible for much of the 11% Congressional approval rating. He made holes in the boat, then proposed to fix the holes he made. it’s little wonder he lost.

Bush won four Presidential elections, while McCain is 2-2, and he lost the biggie. That tells me who people wanted more (or who they liked less)

The worst effect McCain had was in his inability to turn out the vote. His margin of victory stayed in their living rooms on election day. Turnout was 1% greater overall than Bush in 04, with most all the newbies going Soetoro's way.

My pet peeve with Maverick was his complete oblivion when it came to Barack Hussein Obama's (or whoever he is) Excellent African Adventure. Just FYI, our new President-to-be gave his Kenyan Cousin $1 million and campaigned right alongside him all over Kenya. When Cousin Odinga, an open Marxist who made a play for radical Muslim support by promising autonomous Muslim regions and Sharia Law. Losing the election, he fomented ethnic cleansing and Christian church burnings ... massacres costing the lives of at least 1500 people; brutally killed, some burned alive in their churches, and made many 10's of thousands refugees.

Too negative for the old fart to bring up in his campaign ... not to mention the questions about our new President's actual status as a citizen ... his falsification of his Illinois bar application in which he made no mention of drug use, unpaid fines, and previous aliases. In the end, a guy who was brave enough to fly an F4 over North Vietnam, lacked the courage to slam the media and a preposterous impostor. WTF? Over.

Sorry but this is a dumb post, and historically inaccurate. McCain supported the Bush Administration. McCain won the nomination, sorry but no one else did. McCain ran a damn good campaign and introduced Sarah to the country.

Then there is Bush and this huge financial crisis 2 months befoere the election.

Case closed. Further, McCain lost there is no reason to throw him anywhere. Why do I think you’re one of the ones who stayed home and elected Obama?

Sorry...only the voters of AZ get to decide...and we like him. He’s not perfect but which of your Congressmen are?

We’ve just elected a Marist...and THIS is who you want to run over? THIS is how you spend your time?....Strange, very strange.
