Youtube embedded in Freerepublic?

Not possible, right? Now it's possible!

If you install a firefox extension Greasemonkey, you can install my script and it will detect the youtube link a user makes as its article source, and display the youtube video right on the article's body. No need to leave freerepublic!

Step One:
Greasemonkey Addon for Firefox

Step Two:
smith288's Youtube embed script

I wont provide much support but it's really easy to use. Freepmail me if it all together stops working though.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat; Computers/Internet; Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: greasemonkey; script; youtube
Perfect for watching all those youtube videos people like to link to but cant embed it.

I hope not, Fake videos and photo shops will become
so good that it will be impossible to tell they are
not real.

I want to be able to choose which videos to watch.
I abhor cut or edited videos.

See those FR fundraising videos under all the threads? It would do the exact same thing.

It only works when a user posts an article that sources the youtube video link.

How does FR do it? I was watching an embedded pro life video on a thread yesterday and liked the convenience of it.

So I looked at the source code and tried several things as an experiment to embed another one where the youtube link had been posted by someone else. It didn't work.

I'm running short of space on my hd, and am worried that the way I have my system configured to install FF and the greasemonkey addon. I have to have IE as my default browser because of my NAV subscription. So I had to do a lot of fiddling to funnel my mail off into Netscape. I'm afraid to tinker with it any more.

I'll just go to the links for now, but thanks for the tip. If I get a new computer or have to reinstall, I'll switch over to FF and drop Netscape. I use Netscape for here, mail and newsgroups and IE for most of my web browsing.

I hated the embedded videos during the last donation period.
At least these videos were checked before being embedded.

Between dig and embedded videos, FR is getting worse!

There is no digg presence on FR. Just links to digg where we can represent our side and bump up stories.

I dont understand your resistance to the idea that the video would be embedded. It doesnt start automatically and it gives you the convenience of seeing the video here rather than firing up a new tab/window. Plus you dont have to read all the stupid comments the leftists throw up on youtube videos.

Well done.

I see the video in Firefox that I don't see in Safari.

Very cool.
