There is no doubt in my mind that the media commissions those "registered voter" polls in order to show things in a pro-Democrat slant. At least I can't come with another reason to continually commission polls that are known to be inaccurate.

However, to say that the "likely voter" polls are deliberately biased is to say that capitalism doesn't work. These companies have every reason to make the polls as accurate as they can be; if they are consistently less accurate than their competitors, they lose business. The fact is, the polls are against McCain now because McCain isn't doing very well.

IMHO, this is a direct result of the "win at any costs, even if it means abandoning our principles" strategy that we have been pursuing since Bush 1. We elect candidates that are farther and farther from our core principles, and then when they screw up we fail to defend them. Contrast this with the Democraps who are electing candidates farther and farther to the left, and won't admit they are wrong in ANY circumstance.

Bush is the ultimate example of this. His administration is a complete and utter failure with the exception that they have somehow prevented a follow-up attack since 9/11 (but look for that to end as soon as Obama is in office). And look where it has left us. Now we have an even bigger RINO running for President on a campaign of "I'm not a real Republican", and even many die-hard conservatives don't have it in them to stand up and defend Bush.

The sad thing is, this market collapse is going to be blamed on Bush. If it had happened 6 months from now, we could have ridden it to a complete route of Congressional Democrats. As it is, we are going to get more socialism.

Folks, we are in for at least 4 years (and probably more like 12) of really hard times. We'd best learn the lessons of this election well, and be ready to nominate a REAL conservative in 2012.

“However, to say that the “likely voter” polls are deliberately biased is to say that capitalism doesn’t work.”

It depends on how they define “likely voters”.

It used to be that they considered the record of their votes, i.e., did they actually vote in the past several presidential elections. Now, it seems they ask the voters whether they are likely to vote in this election, and 89% say they are 90-100% sure they will vote, but the turn out is never that large. I saw this in some internals, where the they did it exactly this way. Maybe not all polls do it this way, but some do.

I have a different take on this. These poll companies are supplying their customers with exactly what their customers want. Their customers (the media) obviously are not concerned about accuracy (remember the Dan Rather "fake but accurate" mantra). They are concerned with putting a pro Democrat slant to all news.

So with this logic, these companies are giving them exactly what they want.

Unfortunately, once a company becomes infested with liberal influences, capitalism gets thrown out the window sometimes. Look at the newspapers, hollywood movies, television - look everywhere - readership/viewership is down, but they insist on churning out their leftist hogwash. They don't care to take a hit for the cause.

I'm not saying all are like this, but I think we all know some that are. To these types - the message is more important than the money. Just like our institutions such as schools & churches - liberals are infiltrating everywhere they can make a difference. We could really stand to emulate them, I think.
