Norfolk police clashes fires up gun rights group

Once again, members of a guns-rights advocacy group are coming to City Hall, claiming their rights have been violated by the police.

The Virginia Citizens Defense League, a Northern Virginia-based group, said 100 or more of its members will descend upon Tuesday's City Council meeting to vent their displeasure, many with guns holstered to their hips.

The group is upset about a police confrontation involving a member carrying a weapon openly, which is legal in Virginia.

The group last came to the City Council in August 2007, when members protested the arrest of Chet Szymecki of Yorktown at Harborfest for openly carrying a gun. The charge was dropped; Szymecki has filed a federal suit against the city.

They also protested at that meeting about alleged harassment of Danladi Moore, a Peninsula resident who was stopped twice by police and questioned for openly carrying a gun shortly before the meeting.

The city paid Moore $10,000 in July to prevent what could have been long and costly litigation.

Read the article. Fascinating and fabulous. The gun rights hero has brutal and logical rejoinders to the gun grabbing pieces of filth. How many cops can there possibly be in this town? How could the dumb pieces of crap not have the word yet?? Open carry is LEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not too difficult to grasp unless you’re a dumb scumbag piece of gun-grabbing sub-human filth maggot. Hope they get sued again.

I had to chuckle at the comment about what you would think if you saw an armed citizen standing in front of a bank.

I don't know for sure, but I think a bank robber wouldn't be standing in front of the bank with a gun strapped to his hip. I think he would probably be carrying concealed until he got into the bank.

I like the gun grabber, “The cop sure as hell is going to check it out!” Fine, dumbass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check it out, and then carry your filthy ass to the donut shop as soon as you find out you’ve got a law-abiding citizen on your hands. Then the gun grabber says, “Look, we’ve got problems in this city, we don’t need this kind of thing.” Our hero says “You admit you’ve got problems, that’s why we carry guns, scumbag!” Another problem they have is the illiterate cops who break the law and/or cannot read the law.

Councilwuss Riddick quote:
Riddick said he knows a way to ease the tension.

"We should call Bob's Gun Shop and have him deliver eight 9-millimeters to us," he said. "We'll keep them on our desk in case we need them."

What a piece of work this guy is!

(BTW, proud "endowment member" of NRA here.)

Seems to me the first time the cops can say sorry, we didn’t know. The next time its willful infringement of Constitutional rights. Put the cops and city council in jail.

Precisely! That’s why I ask how many cops are in this town. Memo to both cops — “Open carry is legal. If you need help with the 2 syllable words, ask your mommy after you leave the donut store.”

Councilman Barclay C. Winn, who is a hunter, said the guns-rights group's actions are precisely why he won't joint the NRA - the powerful lobbyists the National Rifle Association.

Is it legal in Virginia to joint someone without their permission?

I was kinda curious what hunting had to do with the right to bear arms.

In a way, it is kind of funny and sad. He tries to smear the NRA for the actions of a different group doing what the NRA is too wimpy to support.

Go get ‘em, armed citizens of VA. We can’t do that here in NYC.

It’s not like they are supposed to know the law or anything...
