Not disclosing vulnerabilities doesn’t mean you don’t have them.
Say what?
OIC, so this is actually a good thing? Is that why the headline of the story says “APPLE bruised...?”. This simple pun illustrates perfectly what you are failing to grasp. This is a bad thing. NUMBER ONE in reported security vulnerabilities. Not just more than Micrsoft, but TWO full positions above it! How can this possibly be good under any conditions? HA HA HA...
I am not avocating anyone's destruction. I am just happy to see a plate full of crow being feed to the MAC crowd at long last. They so deserve it after all their years of bashing all the non-Apple things in the world. Apple is a fine company and probably won't be destroyed by being NUMBER ONE in reported security vulnerabilities.(Two notches ABOVE Microsoft by the way.)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Apple fans flame away all you want, nothing can ruin this wonderful, long time coming day for me. I feel like I am walking on the Clouds portrayed on the Windows 95 Desktop.
Um, if this brings that much joy to your life, go with it. Meanwhile, as Apple is disclosing security vulnerabilities, Windows viruses outnumber those for OS X by about 60,000 to zero.
Are you kidding? That's like saying there are as many people at the Superbowl as there are on the moon.
Everyone is forgetting what is truly important!
Like I mentioned right off the bat... GAMES!
Consoles can’t compete with a P.C.
Apple can’t compete with either of them.
Yea, my vic-20 is virus-free, too.
And starts up in seconds!
So what?
Apple: Vulnerabilities reported and patched.
Microsoft: Vulnerabilities exploited in the wild, used in attacks on machines that cost billions of dollars in downtime, hijacked machines and networks, IT labor, and lost data.
Is this a distinction you’re having a hard time understanding?
Shouldn't you be in school?
“Shouldn’t you be in school?”
Offended Mac-user, I assume?
“All play and no work puts ReignOfError’s panties in a bunch...”
Not offended. Concerned. Chronic truancy is an indicator of future troubles.
If you really believe that games are the most important use of desktop computers, then you really ought to be somewhere learning something.
Well all that may or may not be true. However Microsoft was not not number one on the list. Let me tell you who was. It was APPLE. No sense bringing up a lot of extraneous data. The facts are the facts. I been hearing "Yeah buts" all day and APPLE has not been moved from NUMBER ONE in reported security vulnerabilities. Based on all the Apple hype over the years, you would think they would not even be on the list, much less all of a sudden show up at NUMBER ONE? There is no way I was just going to let this go by.
Do you actually believe reported vulnerabilities means the same as total vulnerabilities? Or are you just extremely happy that Apple is more forthright about its software than Microsoft is?
Uh.. that may be true for all the PC refugees that have come over and are whining, but for me my Mac craze began in 1986 and I'm still happily crazed.
“Microsoft held on to the top spot for the number of public exploits, followed by Hewlett Packard and Apple. The three vendors accounted for about half of all exploits found in the top ten list.”
How’s that gloat tasting? Did you read the article?
re: the disclosure rate: “Final results were close, according to the IBM X-Force 2008 mid-year report , with Apple achieving vulnerability disclosure score of 3.2 percent, followed by Joomla with 2.7 percent and Microsoft at 2.5 percent. “
If you really believe that everything everyone posts here is their deep-seated, most-cherished belief...
Well, that says more about you than me...
like you “really ought to be somewhere learning something.”
Know how I can tell you’re a Mac-user?
NO sense of humor!
Thanks for you concern. It’s misplaced.

Apple was NUMBER ONE, not Microsoft. Don't you remember when APPLE did not have ANY security issues. I have heard it at least 50,000 million times. That was the whole point of Apple for years and years. Remember "It Just works?" I guess they now mean "It just works with the most security vulnerabilities (and patches) of any vendor" Does that make things seem better to you? Not to me! HA HA HA..
Hows that gloat tasting? Did you read the article?
Why is APPLE even on the list? That's what I want to know from the MAC crowd. Shouldn't they be on a special list or something? Are you now willing to accept patches and updates at a pace even higher than Microsoft and still pretend your world is all good?
As far as Microsoft being on top of the other list, SO WHAT? It is always there. That's not news at all. APPLE being NUMBER ONE on reported security vulnerabilities is big news and that is why I posted the article.
hmm who has a bigger server presence in business BSD or Linux?
