The Big Ten isnt as bad as you think.
Because of the geographical location, media coverage, and history, the Big Ten is the most popular conference in college sports. Big schools, big fan bases, big rivalries, big stadiums, its own network big, big, big. Its such a big league that it has too many teams for its name.
Since theres so much attention and so much coverage, fans from other leagues love to pile on when things arent going so well. However, for all of the bad PR and all the shots the Big Ten has taken over the last few years, its getting a bad rap. No, its not as good as the SEC, but its been better than the ACC and Big East and its been every bit as good as the Big 12 or Pac 10, if not better.
First of all, its time to stop punishing Ohio State for losing the last two national title games. Theres no shame whatsoever in losing to the national champions.
Second, its not fair to impugn an entire conference because one of its teams loses to USC every year. USC wouldve beaten at least 116 other teams in the last six BCS games its been in; theres no reason to rip on the Big Ten just because it keeps getting in the way of the steamroller.
Third, the league simply hasnt been as bad as you think.

...when are we going to have a playoff?
So what’s the deal with this new Michigan coach? I don’t care who he is or where he comes from. Will he win, or not?
So why isn’t it the Big Eleven?
I guess you all know first hand that 2nd place is 1st loser! Go SEC!!!
Cry me a river. The BIG-10 just isn’t at the competitive level of the SEC, the BIG-12 or the ACC in my opinion. The Big-10 and Pac-10 just don’t have as much competition. If the PAC10 and the BIG10 merged, that would be a good conference.
I think Rodriguez will do fine. I’m not entirely sure it will be this season that he turns it around however.
I’ve been asking myself that very question since I was about 12 or 13 years old.
(...and you Big Ten guys gotta admit the above pic doesn't even need to be ID'd for ya.....)
Illinois would certainly agree with that. :)
They lost most their talent don't have a QB. They thought they had the big name QB prospect, but he went elsewhere. Michigan will be lucky if they lose less than 4 games.
The ACC????? Give me a break. The SEC without a question. Probably the Big 12 is a bit deeper, but still the big ten has been better on the top half. But the ACC? No way.
Considering all the money funneled through the USC booster program to pay for the players, don’t you find it a terrrible waste of funds that you only have one National championship during that time for all that money?
Because by all rights there should be twelve teams in it.

History is your friend....
USC has won 11 National championships (including 2004 and 1939)
I love these pre-season thingies where all the lightweight conferences and skools pipe in........Every kid's gonna admit he'd rather wear the Cardinal and Gold (even if his name isn't on his jersey) than almost anywhere.
Y'all gonna hear the hoofbeats of Traveler II ( or III or IV or whichever horsie's now up...) a WHOLE lot this fall!
They were better off with the old coach who was a class act.
Problem is that when it comes to Ohio state vs. Michigan, you’re only judged on if you win that single game. You can win every game of the season but one, get to a major bowl game and win it, but if you’re the loser of that last game of the regular season, your season is considered a complete failure. Lose that game 2+ games in a row and your most likely fired.
Lloyd Carr could of lost every game last year, but if he beat Ohio State, he would still be the head coach this year. Sounds crazy, but that how psychotic the rivalry between the two schools are.
I am well familiar with the rivalry, and have been tear-gassed for my studies. ;)
The USC/Ohio State game coming in week 2 will be interesting. While teams like the University of Texas are scheduling North Texas Women’s College, these two contenders for the BCS championship lay it on the line right up front.
