'Wall-E' Trailer Makes Woman Cry, Every Time

MINNEAPOLIS (CBS) ― No matter where she is, every time Courtney Mault sees the preview to the new Pixar movie, "Wall-E", her eyes tear up.

"I don't know. I like robots," she said, "Pixar is really good at making characters adorable. They made people love rats with Ratatouille."

The movie is about a robot stuck alone picking up trash on Earth for 700 years after humans leave. Mault said she's never sad when she cries, but rather more emotional when the robot says his name for the first time.

Mault first saw the movie trailer nine months ago with her boyfriend. At the time, tears streamed down her face after the 2-minute preview.

"I think it's the fact that there's this little robot, he's all alone. He's developed this sense of curiosity and there's something about that's so touching and heartbreaking," she said.

Mault said she rarely cries at movies, so this reaction amused her -- enough that she decided to record video of herself watching it and post it on her blog. Click here to see her "losing it" again.

"After the preview came out, every so often I would impersonate 'Wall-E' and she would tear up," said Max Sparber, her boyfriend. "So it's very real."

A few months after she posted her crying video, the folks at Pixar saw it. Several of them contacted Mault to tell her she was lifting their spirits.

Pixar told her, "We're so glad our little robot is hopefully giving you tears of joy that are making you so happy."

They eventually sent her a crew jacket. Then, it was another couple of months before she got a special invite from the producer. He told Mault he wanted to fly her out to San Francisco for the crew's wrap party.

"I was so excited the whole time. I thought I was going to faint at one point. I thought this wasn't really happening," she said.

At the party, the producer thanked the crew for their hard work. Then, they gave Courtney a standing ovation for her video. She called it one of the most spectacular things of her life.

When she and her boyfriend returned, he shared their experience on his blog. Dozens of people responded, many writing they had the same reaction as Mault, and most thanking him for the nice story.

"I think it's a nice story too," she said. "I got really lucky."

This is just plain bizarre.

Where do people like this come from?

But if you don't believe it -- there's video at the link.

Maybe she’s going through menopause. It seems to make women really emotional at the weirdest moments.

Geez, wait until she gets older and life crushes her soul. She’ll be crying all the time.

Oh, come on. Isn’t that over the top? WALL-E an attack on America? It’s science fiction, and all good science fiction is based on the idea of “take an idea and carry it out a little far”.

Wow. That’s something.

That said, I have a soft spot in my heart for Wall-e. He’s like a little tractor with a heart of gold. He’s a sweet character and I did enjoy the scene’s on Earth.

I did not like the introduction of the “Consumers Bad” message.

I did thnk that iving Auto the same “eye” as HAL from 2001 was cool.
