My daughter cut her foot at Wal-mart last night when we went to buy her a new pair of tennis-shoes. She got a cut on the bottom of her foot that was nearly 1/8" long and pretty deep. I got someone to come take an accident report just in case it gets infected. They cleaned it up and put on a bandaid...took our phone numbers and said they would call her after school today to see how she was doing.
My girl was more worried about keeping the blood from dripping on the floor.
Ouch! Hope she’s OK.
She’ll be ok...I just wanted to show an example of how mature people handle things. My daughter is more mature than this mother...she wouldn’t even consider blaming wal-mart for this.
A customer had dropped and broke a picture frame, and then instead of letting someone know so the glass could be cleaned up...they kicked it under the shelf. My girl (13 years old) was going to use her mini first aid kit, but I told her we needed to let the store know in case it got infected.
That’s good to hear. An infected wound is an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Being on a foot would even be worse. Hope it clears up quickly without reaching that point.
Sounds like you have every reason to be proud. It really says something when a girl her age has 10 times (or more) the sense of someone who is an adult.
When I was a teen, Cousin Stevie (age 4) fell through the trap door in the barn floor, face down and directly into the manure pile. I mean, that kid was sh*t from head to toe, inside and out, LOL!
Aunt Alice and I scrubbed him up with the garden hose and by-golly...he was as good as new when we were done!
He has since gone on to own a dairy farm of his own, marry well (a girl with even MORE land than he had) and produce offspring. But I don’t think he’s made that same mistake again, LOL!
Imagine that! :)
We had a customer in the store last week who cut himself on a Fiskars pruner.
It was a nice clean cut on a stainless steel blade; I doubt he’ll get an infection, but I’m sort of waiting for the call from his lawyer. He did need stitches, and we DID have to clean up a lot of blood even if it was just a cut on his hand.
But it’s not like he was juggling them and took a hit in the juggler vein. ;)
Dude! YOU were screwing around with the sharp tools. How is this MY fault?
There are plenty-o-ways to harm yourself in a Garden Center. Plenty-o-Poison around to eat, plenty of sharp things to hurt yourself with. Heck, you could impale yourself on a pine tree if you tried hard enough, LOL!
LOL We had a first or second grade class come to the garden center a couple weeks ago. The elementary school is just across teh ball field from us and yet they have to fill out as much paperwork to come see us as they do to take an all day excursion, and have it in two weeks in advance, but that’s another story. Sigh
Anyway, the kids wanted to know about plants and seeds. Did I mention that I’m also in charge of PR for the store? LOL I love having the kids and I was answering their questions. When we got to the seeds, the first thing I told them was that any seeds that were bright pink or purple were treated with poison. Long and short of it was—the kids all wrote me an I-learned-this thank you note. Every single one of them said something about Ms. Heidi’s poison seeds! I’m still waiting for one of the parents to come in and accost me!
Given the myriad ways humans can hurt themselves, I find it amazing that any of us survived to adulthood! If I’d been stupid enough to cut myself on a pair of shears—in a store no less, I sure wouldn’t have admitted it to anyone! I’d have wrapped it in the tail of my shirt if I had to and slunk out to lick my wounds in solitude!
I can’t even imagine why a thread like this would be pulled, unless someone used a bad word like ***. We have called it feces, even poop, but I can’t imagine why a thread like this would be pulled!!!!
Maybe I am stupid or something, but when it reaches a point that a thread like this is pulled, I’ll be stunned, then it won’t matter. Of course, I’ll understand if it is a duplicate thread. I am puzzled by this!!!!
If this thread is pulled, I’ll be putting some “poop” on my plants, and will be too busy to worry about something so insignificant.
So what’s up with your comment about my thread being pulled?
Re: The thread that was pulled.
I don’t know why it was pulled. But I posted it. And it was live for about an hour with many replies. All clean. Nothing was posted that was any worse than the replies in this thread.
Sometimes you get a moderator who’s having an off day. Poop happens.
Aww . . . have a cookie.
Just sounds like your run of the mill liberal soccer mom looking for a handout.
Hey lady, next time try hosing off the shoe. Ths smell goes away when you clean the poop off of it.
sniff.. sniff
Wait. You didn't find this cookie out an Aquariam did you?
