Because Microsoft never released a version of IE for Mac OS X, Mac users were frozen out of ActiveX-based Web sites, making many SaaS (software as a service) offerings and enterprise-app Web clients off limits to the Mac. Actually, Internet Explorer was available for Mac OS X for a while, without much support for ActiveX. Nobody misses it today.

Also because Mac wanted to promote Safari bigtime on the Mac. I just got it updated on my PowerMacPC, which is one of the first duel processors to come out. I have on Classic 9 the IE but I do not use that browser much unless very much needed. Also I have the Firefox browser.

Microsoft is doing its part to help Apple achieve more market share.
Thanks Vista.

Don’t care. I’ll work a Intel, Apple, Linux box. A tool is a tool. I don’t care if it’s 386 or quad core, just have some coffee.

The one place I remember pioneering using a Mac as a server a couple of years back is Virgina Tech.

Oh we already have Macs - they’re used by the flaky types in the art department.

From what I’ve observed over the past 14 years in a computing environment that has both Macs and PCs, a shift to more Macs will put pressure on IT to downsize. I think that’s probably been behind much resistance to more Macs.

The big problem is that to make Macs compatible with corporate environments you'll have to completely re-write many corporate software to be truly W3C-standards compliant, and that could end up being a very expensive proposition even if you out-source the development.

Hey, I am no liberal snob and I use a Mac. Macs do not drive you crazy the way PC’s end up doing. Plus the Windows program have had so many problems from hacking to software issues. Also Macs have gotten more respectable thanks to the iPod/iTunes interest. Also love those Mac vs. PC ads. :)
