My daughter drew this. I promised her I would post it, but first I had to learn how. So this homeschooling mom was forced to learn something new today. Ironic, huh?

Looks like you may have a political cartoonist on your hands! Great!

Even a moron can understand a cartoon..
Cartoons trump language and dialect and semantics..
This girl(cartoonist) has spoken clearly..
Public school burns up any creativity a child has..
By boring the child to death..

Thank you! She's sixteen. We've homeschooled since kindergarten.

Remember that story about the girls in the Islamic state who were forced back into their burning school because they were not wearing their burkas? I looked for the post of that story and couldn't find it.

this is the hope i have for the homeschool movement... that our children will be able to have an impact in our culture... i think the greatest impact can be made in the area of the arts, journalism and politics... your daughter’s cartoon hits all three areas at once!

John Gatto has pretty much stated that kids would be better off living in the jungle and being raised by chimpanzees like Tarzan than attending public schools any more.

Homeschoolers are statistically more politically active than public school graduates, so there is much optimism for that.

I've read his book The Underground History of American Education. That and Diane Ravitch's Left Back are quite the two-fer punch.

Ah, thank you. Couldn’t remember. Maybe a search on that will bring up the story.

That and Diane Ravitch's Left Back are quite the two-fer punch. i've never heard of Left Back... i'll have to look into that one... friends of ours (fellow homeschooling family) heads a chapter of GENERATION JOSHUA (or Gen-J) here in our town... these kids are learning at a very young age how to participate in the political process... next weekend they are walking door-to-door to campaign for Dean Andahl, who is running against McNerny for congress... (McNerny beat out Richard Pombo two years ago)...

Homeschooling kids in California have been getting quite the political workout. The situation has generated much goodwill and cooperation between groups that have not historically had much to do with each other. There have been many, many “field trips” to Sacramento.

That is awesome. Tell your daughter good job. I’m going to e-mail that to my wife who is at home teaching class right now.
