******************************EXCERPT**********************

This software collection cannot be underestimated: the ASUS Eee PC runs Xandros Linux, which is a full version of Linux and which comes with a vast and rich suite of software that can be freely downloaded – both “free” in terms of price and “free” in terms of availability. This contrasts starkly with other operating systems and their reliance on proprietary commercial software for extra functionality. It also means, apart from memory cards, your ongoing running costs, so to speak, are nil.

Still as cool as it was yesterday! I did more reading on it-and ASUS-and I noticed that they underclocked the chip in order to keep it the temp down. I suppose fooling around with the clockspeed would be a little silly in a value toy like this but... There's also this from the article which is kinda cool,

"One crafty person has installed a HSDPA 3G modem inside their Eee, drastically taking its mobility to the next level: if WiFi and Ethernet aren’t enough, a global-roaming equipped SIM card lets the EEE get online whenever, wherever. Another creative mod is the swapping of the screen for a car touch screen panel."
