Giuliani pulls a come from behind and wins Florida, cleans up on Super Tuesday. Chooses Fred Thompson as his running mate.

On the Democrat side, Hillary chooses Bill Richardson. Election is decided by Ohio, which flips to the Dems due to low turnout among social conservatives in the southern part of the state. Dems take the white house, and are up +1 in the Senate, +6 in the house.

McDonald's announces "Green Meals" produce from low methane emitting cows.

Clemenza remains unmarried. His plans for world domination must also be put off for another year. :-(

The Mets are in first place for most of the year, but falter down the stretch. Even though the Yankees are in the second division for most of the year, the NY media concentrates on the Fags in Pinstripes, while ignoring the Mets yet again. The Mets, of course, crash like a house of cards in September.

Financial stocks bottom out (BUYING OPPORTUNITY!), while housing does not, especially in Arizona, Florida, and Nevada.

The state of New Jersey increases the income tax and fails yet again to reform property taxes. Corzine pushes yet again for stem cell funding. His approval rating remains high.

New York City is beset with another homeless crisis, as the Homeless Commission fails yet again to reach a contract agreement with shelter management. More homeless people disturb Clemenza and his dates as the attempt to eat dinner al fresco in the West Village. Clemenza refuses to give in to their demands, while the kindly Southern couple next to him gives the bum a $20.

States continue to enforce laws on the hiring of illegals locally, driving the illegals either back home or to other states. Self-deportation strongest among South Americans, though not as strong among Mexicans due to closer ties with the US.

Economic populism fails yet again as a political issue, although national health care again rises as an issue, particularly as the newsmedia features daily stories about mommies who must whore themselves out for Ritalin for their children.

Moronic children continue to play with their Wiis/Iphones, bully the less fortunate on Myspace, and annoy the hell out of their elders by listening to the latest hip hop smash: "Souljah Boy is My Be-Otch."

As the murder rate skyrockets in the ghettos of our nations cities, the usual suspects attempt another round of gun control laws within said cities in defiance of state law. In Pennsylvania, Governor Rendell allows Philly to limit locations where law abiding, concealed carry permit holders can carry, effectively making said city a gun free zone. As a result, Philly remains the city of "Brothers Killing Eachother" and the crime spreads to the affluent in Center City. Other municipalities in Florida and in Missouri try this, but are spanked down by their state courts.

No retirements from the Supreme Court in 2008, as both Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Antonin Scalia wait for 2009 when a new president is sworn in.

A major morning daily newspaper folds. Under Newscorp ownership, the Wall Street Journal goes downhill as it shifts its front page coverage from business to "missing rich pretty white teenager" stories under new editor Greta Van Susteren.

For the first time since statistics were kept, more native-born Americans leave Florida than move there. Moreover, immigrants continue to bypass the sunshine state for North Carolina and other "welcoming" states with low real estate costs (and no driver's license restrictions).

I can’t see how it’s possible in this day of match.com, cupid.com, eharmony.com, etc. that someone can fail to find someone to be with. There are a ridiculous number of singles on the internet and they are trying to make it easy to be reached. I met my wife online back in the “dark ages” of 1997— we weren’t actually trying to get together with anyone at the time. It’s crazy how much has changed, for the better for people looking to get matched up, in 10 years.

The price of crude will not fall below $80 a barrel, and if there is any major political, military, or paramilitary shock, crude may hit $125 a barrel.

Due to a continued devaluation of the US dollar, a continued flood of foreign cash will continue to finance gov’t deficits. If the interest rate rises as a result of gov’t deficits, a continued flood of foreign cash will continue to finance gov’t deficits.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, a continued flood of foreign cash will continue to finance US gov’t deficits.

The Dhimmicrats’ move to Alternative Minimum Tax relief will be the only income tax relief we’re going to see in 2007 and 2008.

Nice quatrain MN, BTW.
Momaw Nadon:Mitt Romney will be the 2008 Republican Presidential nominee. Hillary Clinton will be the 2008 Democratic Presidential nominee... Mitt Romney will be elected the 44th President of the United States. The election will be extremely close.
I agree with all three of those. I'd add that I think the Pubbie VP will be someone from the midwest, maybe Illinois -- because Hillary isn't going to be winning over anyone the way she's been acting toward Osama, oops, I mean Obama. If Mitt misses the nomination for president, I think he'll wind up on the ticket in the VP slot. One way or the other, Mitt will be on the ticket. Rudy will be tapped to campaign for the ticket in California, so he'd better watch his mouth in the meantime.
Momaw Nadon:I predict the New England Patriots will win the Superbowl... There will be riots across China during the 2008 Olympics. Smog in Beijing will oppress the athletes. The Boston Red Sox will NOT win the World Series.
I'm not going to make any sports predictions, but two of those sound plausible. :')
Momaw Nadon:Microbial life will be found on Mars.
It's already been found.
Momaw Nadon:An earthquake above 7.0 will strike California.
I think there'll be a quake affecting Greece, epicenter either on land, or offshore resulting in big waves.
Momaw Nadon:Fidel Castro will officially be pronounced dead.
I predict that the death of Fidel Castro will be announced at least five times on FR, long before it actually happens. I mean, at least five *more* times. ;')
Momaw Nadon:Dow Jones will be above 15,000 at the end of 2008.
Quite agree, as long as the interest rates are stable, the 30 will continue upward. What is the number now?
Momaw Nadon:Windows Vista will be greatly improved by Service Pack 1 which will be released in early March.
Why, is there anything wrong with WV? [innocent look]
Momaw Nadon:A major Supreme Court decision will uphold an individual's right to keep and bear arms.
I think there are two possible outcomes to the case that is going to be heard; one is, a deeply divided court (meaning, the four gun-grabbers will dissent) will issue a ruling upholding the 2nd amendment, or a muddled consensus ruling that says nothing and have to be sorted out later. No chance that the court will gut the 2nd.

To: 2ndDivisionVet
2ndDivisionVet:The democrats will nominate Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson, the GOP Fred Thompson and Steve King.
If Mitt misses the prez nomination, I think it'll be to McCain. If Fred wins the nomination, I think Mitt will be the VP nominee.
2ndDivisionVet:So-called "global warming" will be exposed as the sham it is in popular culture.
Already been done. :') My codicil to yours is that Al Gore's hit his highwater mark, and 2008 will be a very bad year for him and his reputation. IOW, good news.
2ndDivisionVet:Type II diabetes will be cured by adult stem cell researchers.
I think there's a topic about that somewhere around here...
2ndDivisionVet:Diesel cars and light trucks will gain market share in the United States.
That's a good call, IMHO; European sales of new cars have been around 40 per cent diesel for a while already.
2ndDivisionVet:Sears, Roebuck will declare bankruptcy.
Hmm... I thought Sears had already been bought out by another retail chain?

byteback:Romney/Thompson defeats Hillary/Clark
Wes Clark... heh... Hillary's ideal running mate wouldn't be Obama, even though that's the one ticket people would probably vote for. If Hillary wins, she'll be on Oprah's show the next freakin' day, trying to make nice. But anyway, that's an intriguing idea, Romney/Thompson... a kind of "elder statesman" arrangement, not unlike what we have now.
byteback:Rudy is named Atty general.
Maybe Homeland Security?
byteback:Red Sox trade for Johan Santana and win another World Series
Heh heh...
byteback:Housing prices continue to fall
It's a buyer's market, and all three buyers in the country are thrilled about it.
byteback:The dot.coms get a resurgence but mostly to get bought out
Lots more officially sanctioned 'blogs will appear on MSM websites.
byteback:Dems retain Congress and continue to snipe and do nothing more
I think they'll lose the House and barely hang on to the Senate. And Joe Lieberman will continue to caucus with the Dhimmicrats, despite his endorsement of John McCain's candidacy for President.

To: Clemenza
Clemenza:The Coming Oil Crash: Why Oil Prices will Drop
I predict that the Conde Nast people are gonna be mad about posting the text. :'D But seriously, no, the cartel runs pricing by its control of supply; the US gov't won't approve further development of the North Slope; mandated increases in fuel economy won't help curtail demand anytime soon, or anytime later, either; any kind of production delay or interruption (hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, tsunami in SE Asia, earthquakes in Mexico etc) will add to war jitters and OPEC control to keep prices sticky-downwards.
Clemenza:Giuliani pulls a come from behind and wins Florida, cleans up on Super Tuesday.
Ow. Michigan is going to vote Republican in 2008, thanks to Jenny Grandstand.
Clemenza:McDonald's announces "Green Meals" produce from low methane emitting cows.
I wondered what that smell was...
Clemenza:The Mets are in first place for most of the year, but falter down the stretch. Even though the Yankees are in the second division for most of the year, the NY media concentrates on the Fags in Pinstripes, while ignoring the Mets yet again. The Mets, of course, crash like a house of cards in September.
Please, gentle, gentle. I prefer the term "the Skankees".
Clemenza:New York City is beset with another homeless crisis, as the Homeless Commission fails yet again to reach a contract agreement with shelter management. More homeless people disturb Clemenza and his dates as the attempt to eat dinner al fresco in the West Village. Clemenza refuses to give in to their demands, while the kindly Southern couple next to him gives the bum a $20.
Well, no wonder you'll be remaining single in 2008. /rimshot
Clemenza:States continue to enforce laws on the hiring of illegals locally, driving the illegals either back home or to other states... Economic populism fails yet again as a political issue, although national health care again rises as an issue
IOW, we'll get a big deficit boost, more earmarks, no more tax cuts, and I think the ACLU, MoveOn, et al, will agitate in favor of illegals.
Clemenza:No retirements from the Supreme Court in 2008, as both Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Antonin Scalia wait for 2009 when a new president is sworn in.
Spot on, good thinkin'.
Clemenza:the Wall Street Journal goes downhill as it shifts its front page coverage from business to "missing rich pretty white teenager" stories under new editor Greta Van Susteren.
Uh-oh... that's a joke, right? Greta? Has that happened?

GraniteStateConservative:The iPhone will be hugely popular next year as the price drops, especially among teens/tweens.
And in January, a new model of iPhone may be out; at least, a new software version will be. Sales so far (per Swordmaker here on FR) have been about 5 million units in the US. Euro sales start in 2008 I think, although there may be a delay due to possible problems with exclusive vendor. iPhone sales totals by the end end of 2008 will probably exceed 20 million units in the US, which is mind-boggling.

My predictions for 2008:

  1. The Democrats will blame President Bush for everything that goes wrong, anywhere in the world.
  2. Whatever Bush does not get blamed for, anthropomorphic global warming will be blamed for.
  3. The Republican Presidential candidate, no matter what you thought of him in the primary season, will look light-years better to Freepers than the Democrat’s candidate.
  4. The odds of the previous three predictions coming true approach 100%.

I predict that Congressman Billy Bob will defeat Heath Schuler and be elected to congress where will he will serve under an alias.

Freepers will rejoice and actively support his campaign with both time and money.
