The 49ers made major changes to their front-office structure Friday, hiring former A's executive and Memphis Grizzlies President Andy Dolich as their new chief operating officer.
Team co-owner John York said he maintain his same role overseeing the day-to-day operation of the franchise, but he will increase the responsibilities of son Jed, who has been taking a lead role in the 49ers' negotiations for a new stadium in either Santa Clara or San Francisco.
He is not stepping down or stepping aside from the team.
"Not a bit," York said. "Jed's role continues to grow but he is primarily working on the stadium initiative. And he will continue to do that. He does a lot of things with me and for me."

Sack the Yorks!
Bring back Eddie.
Moving the deck chairs on the Titanic.
While the band played on.
The losing, however, will continue.
Is that byline legit?
Man this is pretty gut-wrenching. I grew up in the 80s a huge 49ers fan. When I played Tecmo Bowl on Nintendo, I was the 49ers or else. I thank the 49ers for making the Packers what they were in the 90s & today. I look at them like a prodigy appreciating his mentor.
San Francisco values?
Sometimes re-arranging the deck chairs helps.
Look what happened with the Red Sox when the new owners brought in a new GM (Theo Epstein).
The New England Patriots were mediocre for years until Bob Craft bought the team.
In both situations, changes at the top reaped a big payoff. Also, Bob Craft unwittingly provided a good example of how to succeed if the local government won’t build you a new stadium. He wanted taxpayer money at first, but when he was rebuffed, he grudgingly went ahead and built CMGI Field/Gillette Stadium. It was a financial windfall for him.
Then again, there’s no substitute for a good video camera.
WAAA!!! All I got for Christmas from Daddy was a house in Aspen, a new 5 series and some crappy football team in SF.
I think it's a few years away, but the 49ers will return to winning. Then they and the Cowboys can get game on again.
