Fair enough. I am wondering why they are doing the movie a third time. However, in the Omega man. Charleston Heston has the same character as the character in the novel.
I am wondering why they are doing the movie a third time.
Could it be that nobody saw the first two installments since they came out when more were not even born yet. I believe that this is good business because you will have a completely new audience to see the movie. Of course it could bust but that has nothing to do with making the movie, but that the movie stunk.
Why wouldn’t they? There’s money to be made from a new generation of fans. Zombie/ end of the world plague movies have been big bank lately, why not try to capitalize on that with a story that they know is good and makes profitable movies. Hollywood has made and remade movies from books since day one, the Maltese Falcon that we all consider the definitive version (Bogart) was the third time around (in 10 years), the definitive Ben Hur (Heston) was the third time around (first time with sound). Hollywood has never believed in the concept of going to the well too often, any movie that makes money will be remade to get more, any movie that doesn’t make money will be remade to get the money they thought it should have.
I think they just found 76 and a half million other reasons to make this version. Biggest December opener ever.
