Put another way: We as a culture just might be suffering a slow, painful death by spiritual stagnation, by ideological stasis, by cosmic rigor mortis. It has become painfully, lethally obvious in the age of George W. Bush and authoritarian groupthink that our major religious systems and foundations don't know how to move. They don't learn, adjust, evolve, see things anew. They don't know how to dance. And what's more, this little problem might just be the death of us all.

You've been warned
(1) The morfordite is self-medicating,
and
(2) It’s all Bush’s fault.

Dancing in general is stupid. There is little more funny to me than going to a club and watching people “dance”. It’s worth the cover.
Karoke in motion, that’s dancing.
Aw, man, what a disappointment! I thought this would be about those denominations that won’t have sex standing up - because they don’t want anybody to think they’re dancing.
I never met a guy who danced who wasn’t trying to get laid. Never have I heard a heterosexual male, not under the influence of drugs, utter the phrase, “I wanna dance!”. Women dance to put themselves on display and garner male attention. They notice which women get the attention and take note.
If people truly enjoyed the act of dancing, most homes in America would have discos like they have pools. Some did in the 70s but then the coke wore off. Ultimately, though, those were for little more than partying and getting laid.
Dancing is little more than a mating ritual. To watch people do it is to see to what lengths some will go to for sex. Generally, it’s quite funny.
None of this has anything to do with dance as an art form.
Yeah, I never went the dance route myself. I always preferred just buying them enough drinks to get them to go home with me for the “horizontal mambo”.
Tried and true. No need to get fancy. ;)
Mark: Get professional help. Now. Please. You are dangerously obsessed with George W. Bush. And it is getting worse. (Yes this is a professional opinion, not mine though.)
Miss Morford is a religious diletantte who flies screaming from its first demand on him - he is, after all, convinced that inasmuch as the “gods” are our creation it is we who should be making demands on religion and not the other way around. Even the Buddhists find that a little on the self-absorbed side. Heck, even the Satanists find that a little on the self-absorbed side.
I really thought he was going somewhere else with this.
Ecc 1:9 The thing that hath been, it [is that] which shall be; and that which is done [is] that which shall be done: and [there is] no new [thing] under the sun.
You were saying ????????
How about in the dark, with your wife?
Why does Morford insist on writing about things has knows nothing about?
I think Morford is in loooooove with Bush and he just “can’t learn, adjust, evolve, see things anew” to the truth of it all. :)
Sounds stereotypically liberal to me.
I think you miss the point.
I must have.
I have nothing against dancing on religious or spiritual grounds, I just think it’s goofy.
I’m not saying dancing is wrong or immoral. I’m saying it’s ridiculous and funny.
