Indians Fans Are Freaking Out (Game 7 today)

Really, who can blame them? Their team has gone from 3-1 to 3-3, a bunch of bleeding hearts are trying to take away their silly mascot, and while it's not exactly the Yankees' historic collapse in 2004, the Indians really are struggling at the worst possible time. When C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona can't see you through -- OK, so I'd be freaking out too:

So what's the vibe in Cleveland after two straight losses? Not too chipper.

About 16,000 people turned out at Jacobs Field on Saturday for a Tribe Pride Party. They watched the game -- a Boston Massacre, if there ever was one -- unfold on the ballpark's scoreboard.

They took it a little hard as the party ended early.

"I'm going to be sick," grumbled Al Madan, 46, of Cleveland. "It's all slipping away. I'm sick. Sick. This is a disaster."

Robin Joynes, 38, of Kent bemoaned the "vortex of doom" that's pulling down the Indians. Consider it a professional opinion: She's a psychology professor at Kent State University.

That's right: a vortex of doom. I found myself cheering for the Red Sox last night, not only for J.D. Drew but just for a good series and a game 7 and all that good stuff ... but now, it's pretty obvious which fan base is the more tortured. It's time for Indians fans to be able to die in peace, too.

OK, OK, just make sure you don’t do that axe thing with your hands that got Atlanta in trouble a few years ago. And absolutely no battlecries.

Indians haven’t lost more than two games in a row since August 14.

Not to mention that the Red Sox didn’t get any runs off of Westbrook until the 7th inning in Game 3.

I am favoring the Indians tonight, crazy as that may sound.

That's about right.

There are teams that are just destined to win. This year the Sox are such a team.

Now I don't really care about their silly mascot and his goofy grin and certainly I don't support the busybodies trying to take it away, but seriously, what a stupid looking mascot. Chief Wazoo (or whatever they call him) looks like he's been dipping too much into the white man's rum if you ask me. And speaking of rum, Cleveland fans might do well to ensure they are fully stocked up on the demon rum for tonights game.

As for us Red Sox fans, we are used to it. Whichever way it goes tonight, we can handle it. But you have to like the Red Sox chances for tonight. They got the home field, their lineup is starting to hit the ball, and they'll have Josh Beckett in the bullpen - just in case that Japanese guy has a nervous breakdown or something.

I love Chief Wahoo.
Named after a Native American player named Sockalexis.

There is nothing worse than giving up a lead. Getting swept I can take. If my team gave up a 3-1 lead and lost I would be sick for weeks... years.

Sorry about the tribe losing after a hard fought battle. But remember that the tribe are a TEAM to watch for next season, and this should be considered a LEARNING experence to prepare yous for getting better next season. You got a bright future ahead as a team to watch next season. Rest up this winter.

Keep the mascot, he still looks great despite the protests.

Amen!

I just went back to Cleveland and saw a sea of Chief Wahoo.

Besides, I also want ANYONE else other then the NY Yankees. The Yankees have had the go around of the championship experence for about lets see, 26 times. Give the other AL teams ( Boston, Cleveland, ete., ) a shot at the World Series. :-)

I had seen last week on ESPN online a group of Cleveland Indian fans holding in their hands pictures of what looked like Chief Wahoo having large, muscular arms and chest. Goes to show that Cleveland has a great era in the years ahead with the team and as Joe Torrie has called it quits and with that a number of players down the road, I see Cleveland becoming a powerhouse. :-)
