Help= me, p=lease, my keyboard has gone crazy, and I can-'t figure out what to do

The keyboard on my VAIo lap=top= has gone nuts. When I typ=e a p=, I get the p= p=lus the equal sign , and the cursor jump=s to the first line of typ=e. The direction keys don-' t work, nor does the backsp=ace. The enter key causes the little box with undo to drop= down. I already p=layed around with the numlock key and fixed the worse of it, which was the letter keys tpy=ing numbers. But it is still messed up=. Any suggestions?

Do you have a USB keyboard? Unplug it and plug back in. If it came with drivers, reinstall them.

When in doubt, turn off the computer and start over. If that does not work buy a new key board.

Sounds more like a Mother Board problem.

It is a lap=top= with a builtin keyboard, which I am not skillful enough to rep=lace. It think I inadverdently hit a wrong key.

Since it’s a laptop, you’ll probably need to order a new keyboard from the manufacturer. But you can make due temporarily by using a plug in keyboard.

USB works better the old PS2. A dual one can work off both Mac and Windows.

It's a laptop...not a desktop workstation. Yes, an external keyboard would correct the problem, but don't think that's the question here, is it?

You might take a look and see if there are crumbs etc. in the keyboard. If you think its a software issue, then try to restore the computer to an earlier time, but I suspect that it’s just a worn out keyboard.

I think getting a new keyboard put on a laptop is going to cost him more that $10.

I’ve seen this kind of behavior enough times to assume that your laptop is infected. Try Trend Micro House Call.
