OUCH! That’s gonna leave a mark!
The straps attach to the side of the driver's helmet and keeps the head from snapping from the spinal-cord.
For the everyday driver, you're only protection is the air-bad in the steering wheel.
Type decapitation into the search block. Select “By Title (date)”. Hit ‘Search’. The first result should be your post. The second and third are the two I listed.
I’m not sure what you mean by your bold comments about keywords. If you want to link the three stories, add the same keyword to each.
Don’t forget that Earnhardt was killed by a safety belt failure. No failure, no death. Although I think the HANS (or Hutchens) devices should have been mandatory prior to this. It’s just a great idea. Especially in the open-wheel world (F1, IRL, CHAMP) where the helmets had gotten so heavy.
Don’t feel bad about your posting. There’s an even newer one now: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1835526/posts?page=1
(Look quick - it may end up in chat).
