A retired accountant murdered his wife when her suicide attempt went wrong, a jury was told.

Frank Lund had climbed into bed with Patricia and watched as she swallowed 80 paracetamol tablets.

But when it became clear that the overdose was not fatal and she started to be sick, he pulled a plastic bag over her head and smothered her with a pillow, holding her in his arms until she died, the court heard.

The jury was told that in October 2005 Mrs Lund was diagnosed with a digestive problem caused by the inflammation of the large bowel.

Although doctors said the condition would clear up in 18 months, Mrs Lund found it very embarrassing and often talked of taking her own life.

Ah yes, the very definition of a "loving husband" is someone who stands by while his wife attempts suicide over a temporary medical condition, and then murders her when her attempt fails.

As opposed to what a cruel husband might do, like reassure his wife that her embarrassing medical condition would pass, and pledge to stick by her through thick and thin while she recuperated.

Look at that smirking ghoul.

Give her a break, she saw what happened to Fidel under socialized medicine with similar circumstances and was convinced that she was a goner.

:)

I went and read the article. How can they claim he was a loving, devoted husband when he killed her? I don’t understand what this world is coming to anymore. Bizarre story. Even the woman’s sons think he is superhubby.

LOVING husband?? If to love someone means to kill them, we have indeed entered into the Twilight Zone. If he really loved his wife, as noted in the thread, he would have supported her and let her know that he loved her no matter what health problems she had. Whatever happened to marriage vows like "in sickness and in health"?

bedolido may have a good point. Who's word is it that she tried suicide? His? And we should believe him why? Especially after he murdered her and finished the job.

Would I be surprised that he poisoned her, or encouraged her, or lied to her about her condition and drove her to desperation? No.

This was a temporary condition. Even if it wasn’t, a good husband would stand by his wife, and help her through the pain. A good husband would have prevented her from taking those pills and helped her find some therapy. The man looks incredibly evil. Well, the libs might give him some sympathy for “killing with compassion”.
