But it's all about ratings and ABC isn't going to dump the ratings queen (O'D)...

I guess I'm out of touch. Is she really "the ratings queen" or are folks just watching during this spat with Trump?

I'm no fan of either of them, but there is an implication here that Barbara is the cause of the problem, and I think that's laughable. Walters got where she is by being smooth and diplomatic and getting along with an incredibly broad array of people. Rosie, on the other hand, is a loud-mouthed, abrasive bull dyke.

Very true. But ratings drive the game. To us, Rosie O'Donnell looks like a noxious pig. But apparently she fascinates the average couch potato, and they tune in by the millions to watch her, waiting breathlessly to see what outrage happens next.

I would have thought the same about Howard Stern. There were earlier stories that when he went to pay radio his ratings plummeted and he was a miserable failure. Then it turns out that wasn't true. He gets millions in stock options, and the price of the stock rises on the news.

Evidently it's a mistake to think that the entertainment media should be rational. Evidently all those people who twice elect Bill Clinton, even if by a minority vote, just love to tune in to the antics of a Howard Stern or a Rosie O'Donnell, just as they love to page through US magazine. It's a discouraging thought.

If she the rating queen, why doesn't she have her own show? I'm sure Walters hired her at the request on someone so Walters has to bow to someone, too. Donald has no reason to lie....Barbara does.

Jello wrestling would have raised ratings too. Somehow I don't see Babawawa going there.

However, the show hs long since become a bore with boorish comments by behar leading the way.

Time to say goodbye to The View.

That letter is a masterpiece.

Brilliant! He eviscerates both the 2-faced liar & the 2-ton loon in 1 fell swoop!

I wonder if Omarosa helped him write it? lol!

Rosie has issues. This is soooooo similar to the cr** she pulled on Selleck. Then the news came out that she travels ith an armed guard. She's using Walters just like an armed guard. Necessity!!

she'll only attack anyone she thinks she can bully, or that she knows is not prepared for her attack. note that immediately after her selleck attack, howard stern offered to debate the issue with her, on her show or his, and she wouldn't touch it.
i don't think she was expecting a response from donald with her original insult.

When Rosie goes, please give thought
to a human gal . . .

"Rosie O'Donnell Will Probably Leave 'The View'"

And I could probably care....

(but I wouldn't bet a large sum of money on that chance)

No, ratings actually went up when she arrived. People like to watch her antics, I guess.

This must be a joke...Rosie ruined the show and made it into a circus, and she was the big untrained pig.

You really have to follow the money on this one and it's the long game the suits are going to be looking at. Ratings work in your favor ONLY if the reason your ratings are up isn't repellent to advertisers.

Example (and likely the most extreme one):

In the 1990's, Howard Stern had a Saturday night broadcast coming out of WWOR 9, the NY Market station in Secaucus. His ratings were HUGE. The guy was killing SNL. Admittedly SNL was NOT the powerhouse it was in the previous decades but it wasn't nearly as horrid as it is now so beating one of NBC's landmark properties was a real big deal.

So, Howard gets huge ratings...big deal. You would think the spots on his show would sell for huge sums and advertisers would be fighting for the available inventory. Just the opposite happened. No BIG brand wanted to be associated with Stern. What you had was an endless stream of "1-900" chat line ads and other local spots. People who were fans and had something to advertise were all over Howard's show. These were not the advertisers with very deep pockets. The program was destined to be yanked off the air for something more profitible and less controversial.

Strangely, the case is not nearly as extreme with The View. If anyone at ABC is thinking that giving Rosie control will turn the gabfest into an ATM on steroids, it may work out that way for a short while but it will backfire. It would be a sure way to kill the program more easily down the road but finessing O'Donnel out the door (as well as that could possibly be accomplished because people will still "know" why she left) will leave Disney/ABC with something that can live beyond Barbara Walters.

Those in control of that program's fate may be smart but they have yet to show that they are wise. Some fool thought it would be a good idea to take McCalls Magazine which had been in print since 1897, re-brand it "Rosie" and it would take off. She managed to kill in one year what had survived for 105 years.

Maybe it WOULD be a good thing to put Rosie in charge of The View....if you want the show off the air as soon as possible.

I like the way you think. May ABC steer O'D directly to the exit so The View can resume some semblance of "normalcy".

Which is the nice way of saying, "You're fired".

Gee, I wonder if Baba Wawa can get her buddy "the Donald" to do the honors? We know it's his favorite phrase, and given his latest tiff with "El Lesbo Blimpo", I'm sure he'd deliver the line with relish!

When you walk with Rosie, you walk among her. Last week it was rumored that her shadow killed a dog..

So as to avoid Rosie's polemics in the time she has remaining in her contract The View should tell her not to bother showing up and her paychecks will be mailed directly to her...or her wife.

"Normalcy" being entirely relative. The rhetoric (evan calling what they do on that program "rhetoric" seems to unjustly elevate it)will still be left-lib only it will be a bit less shrill.

Here's to hoping that Rosie will just fade into the background like Michael Moore seems to have. Thanks to Trump's constant needling, she's revealing her true self to more and more of the public like the Bomb Worshippers in Underneath The Planet of the Apes
