Apple has worked the kinks out of its new cellular handset, according to American Technology Research senior analyst Shaw Wu, and the phone is ready for production. "Handsets are a tricky and competitive business, but an enormous opportunity for Apple," the analyst wrote in a research note obtained by MacNN. "We believe the new Apple handset will be a major player and competitor set to disrupt yet another industry." Wu admits that Apple's "go to market" strategy for the new phone is yet unknown, but is confident the company will time its launch opportunistically and that the new handset is positioned to gain significant traction. "This new market could easily represent an incremental $2 billion annual revenue run-rate revenue opportunity in 2007."
The analyst is encouraging investors to aggressively purchase Apple shares prior to the potential revolution of the handset industry. The firm now estimates $22.2 billion and $2.60 earnings-per-share for fiscal year 2007, up from $22 billion and $2.45.

I hereby declare all rights, and reserve all profits to myself solely, to the trademark name "Yakpod".
This reads like the stock spam I get in my inbox.
So...when will somebody make a phone do what it's supposed to do, you know, LET ME TALK TO SOMEONE FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES WITHOUT DROPPING THE CALL!!!
Is that possible?
How about mePod?
This one will do that... assuming the person on the other end has one, too.
OK, you can have that one, but I get Yakpod. I called it first... :-)
Sure, if your carrier doesn't blow.
LOL! How true.
I think half the reason is because of people fighting the installation of cell towers. I had lousy cell service when I was at my home because locals were against putting a cell on a water tower thinking it would taint the drinking water with radioactive isotopes and cause their children to grow a second head. .
We got the new cell antenna and my phone now has five bars. And, I can dial faster with that sixth finger that mysteriously appeared on my right hand.
I'll believe it when I see it.
And if it works on T-Mobile, I'll buy it for Christmas.

I routinely hold multihour conversations on my Motorola RAZR phone, both while at home and on the road.
Dibs on "iYak".
I rarely have a problem with dropped calls. Usually they happen on the road in very rural areas, often in the mountains.
Around home, dropped calls are almost non-existant.
May be your carrier.
Now, I did have a replacement phone by LG that dropped nearly every call made or received. That phone was subsequently replaced by Cingular with a Motorola that has been as reliable as the phone prior to the LG.
What is that?
