What should Mel Gibson's punishment be? (VANITY)
July 30, 2006 | Hildy

Posted on 07/30/2006 7:49:33 PM PDT by Hildy

Since so many here want so much to forgive Mel Gibson for his anti-semetic tirade and beligerent behavior towards law enforcement I was trying to come up with the best punishment. I think I got it. Besides the obligatory fine, I think the Judge should sentence him to 500 hours community service at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust. What do you all think his sentence should be?

I think he should have to wear Michael Moore's worn underwear, on his head, for a day.

I'm going to get you back someday, Perdogg, I swear.
For this olfactory imagery is simply more than I can bear. ;o]

From my experience, making a slur can turn to hatred when you get accused of being something you are not. The guy was drunk and we don't know what he has gone through over that movie. I wouldn't doubt he has had quite a few threats on his life. Just look at the vitriol on these threads.

I like your idea. I don't think you'd be able to get his father to join him though.

He has disappointed me beyond redemption, Mel has.

He should retire and go live with his family. He has enough money.

Oh boo hoo...It just keeps piling on...the posts now blaming the Jews for Mel falling off the Wagon...We Jews have supernatural powers, don't we? Don't you think Michael Moore may have received some death threats for his movie? NEVER EVER heard any sympathy for him.

I take it you're not Jewish in today's world where millions and millions of people around the world want to kill you.

Hi Hildy, You know, there are millions of people in today's world who want to kill just us plain ol' Americans also. They say it and do it every day. But I refuse to play victim.

Will crucifying Gibson make you less a victim?

"Maybe you should try reading some HISTORY BOOKS and then you won't appear so incredibly dumb when you post."

I'm very aware of the Holocaust, but I still don't see why some have such hatred for Jewish people. I am truly naive about it all.

Yes the antisemitic remarks was bad ,"IF" said. However, what was Mel Gibson charged with antisemitic remarks or DUI? I think should be treated like anyone else who gets a DUI period.

Nevertheless, the bigger concern here is how the police department leaked the case to the public? It makes me very suspicious as to their motive? There needs to be a full scale investigation on who leaked this this in order to protect the integrity of the justice system in our country. This is a cop or a police department that is trying to influence the public before the guy has his day in court. Are we Innocent until prove guilty, or guilty until prove innocent?

Naive isn't a bad thing imho. It's better than being wilfully ignorant. People accused me of being naive throughout life. I seemed to be much happier and less bitter about life than they were.

I think he should get what the court would give anyone else, a lot of prayer and a loss at the box office if he isn't sincere and absolutely no public office. How's that?
