I knew france would lose. I didn't even have to watch. People, please stop using the capital "F" when mentioning anything francophone.

I missed the World Cup because I was painting a couple of rooms in the house and chose to watch them dry but anytime France loses especially to Italy or Germany it's a good day. Congratulations Italy and thanks for knocking off the cheese-eating head-butting surrender monkeys.

Zidane's the veteran, supposedly the "grand old man" of that team, right? So why the blazes would he do something so utterly stupid as get himself red-carded, in a 1-1 tie, in a World Cup final that's probably the last game of his career? That's a brainfart of legendary proportions.

Well, my innocent little babe. To refer to all these soccer players as fellow sportsmen is a bit over the top.....to say the least.
Many of the games had the authenticity of a hollywood barroom brawl.

You are correct. When Zidane went off the French team had to play one man short. There was NO substitute for Zidane.

FIFA ought to just dispense with the first 120 minutes and go right to the shoot-out.
Other than the awful officiating in some of these games, I'd say the number of games that were ultimately determined by penalty shots had to be the most embarrassing aspect of this World Cup.

The actions of the majority of the players in this World Cup was pathetic and made the Cup almost unwatchable at times. If this is the norm for worldwide soccer, no wonder it is a bust here in the US. Whining, rolling on the ground faking injuries, slapping and fighting, hissy fits, lack of offense, shoddy goal kick attempts, etc.
I tried to be the non-ugly American and enjoy the soccer matches, but all I kept thinking is that I couldn't wait for REAL men playing REAL football in a couple months. These crybabies rolling on the ground for 5 minutes (as the clock runs, duh) because they got a kick in the shin is lame. Let "the world" have their gay sport, I'll take my Sunday Ticket and wave the red white and blue proudly.

Who knew there was crying in soccer. Sheesh.
I spent a lot of time watching soccer these two weeks and now I feel the complete fool.
Until today I watched on Univision most of the time.
Listening to the ABC announcers today was more painful then that last headbut by Butthead Zidane.
Bring on football!!!!!
