OK gang. Time to put the old iconoclastic part of the old thinker to work.
Yeah, I have enjoyed Ann's acidic barbs and laughed out loud at some of her more outrageous pronouncements over the years - though frankly, her act is getting a bit old with me - but that is not what this vanity is about.
I suspect that we are all secretly aware that her public persona displays more than a little evidence of exhibitionism and narcissism....the woman clearly has some personality issues. I personally think that she likely has a low sense of self-worth, which her public persona would appear to compensate for....
I would like to hear opinions on this topic from any FReepers who are psychologists or psychiatrists.
Oh, and in case some of you didn't get it, I'll repeat myself:
THIS VANITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MS. COULTER'S POLITICAL VIEWS. It is meant to provoke some thought about her method of promoting them (and herself).
I suspect that few Freepers would want their daughters to behave as Ms. Coulter does - both in terms of her outrageous rudeness and her never-married lifestyle.

Guess I don't see her all that insecure at all. Don't see her compensating per se--certainly not over compensating.
Narcissistic . . . Don't think so.
I see her as very bright and very angry at what's been happening to her country. She's also angry that the MSM gets so much of the attention and air time to the destruction of her beloved country. I think she's very clever at turning the tide with attention getting phrases and sentences. More power to her.
I suspect she's intimidated most men who have caught her eye. She can no doubt live comfortably and carry out her mission in life.
Actually, I see her as pretty reality based; committed to her goals; great sense of humor; bright; personable; pretty well balanced psychologically and emotionally.
The stuff which catches the headlines is all reality based at least in one or more respects, imho. I think she deserves a medal of freedom or some such. I consider her a National Treasure.
Would be willing to note psychopathology if I saw it. I just don't see it . . . actually . . . at all.
Of course, I haven't interviewed her nor given her a battery of tests. Though I don't think either would reveal anything that significantly new.
Of course, those of you who don't believe that there is any difference between men and women might disagree...
If my daughter behaved like Ann and I had the money, I'd fund her totally, were she to need it. I'd be her biggest cheering section.
Our country and world desperately need Ann--regardless of her flaws--which seem to be pretty few and minor, imho.
Methinks you seem to miss the 101 nuances that Ann reveals in her interviews etc. She's a great lady in a list of ways. She's in touch with reality and a compassionate, sensitive, thoughtful, tender hearted, warm human being who's brighter than most those she spars with.
I'm not an Ann fan, per se, though I like her statements and writing in public.
I do hate to see a good person maligned needlessly and inaccurately.
imho, Ann's a very good person and desperately needed by our country.
Oh please Ann acting like a man. Where is it written that to have a mind and speak it is acting like a man?
Further I note that you take no issue with the supposed males, Ann is supposedly rolling between the sheets with are NOT the examples to be set for a son.

No daughters yet, but when I have children I plan on raising them in line with New Testament standards of morality, which demand civility, self-control, fair-mindedness, and generosity (both financial and in personal dealings). I'm no longer Christian but I have great respect for these ideals.
Now to the second part of the question.
Would you want your own daughter behaving as she does in public?
Ahhhhh, methinks your judgment is clouded if you have such fierce, narrow biases about intelligent design issues.
I've never seen Ann in public, but I haven't minded the clips I've heard on Rush or whatever. I want my kid to be strong and able to take care of herself, and to have a sense of humor.
I'm not an expert on Ann's public behavior, far from it, so maybe she's done something I don't know about that would change my opinion. But while I think I'd be uncomfortable around Ann, I'm not as quick or as sharp, I like what I hear.
Huh? What planet are you from? This is just one more aspect of a topic that has been discussed to death since the new book hit. Where did you get the idea that the mods would kill it?
You're mistaken. I have taught my son to protect and to be kind to his younger sisters - and I will continue to remind him as he gets older and into his teen years that he should treat EVERY girl like he does his sisters - and that he ought not to do anything with a girl that he wouldn't like some other boy doing with one of his sisters....

I don't think most are psychotic. But most are pathologically arrogant far too often, imho. Was one of the reasons I could never play the "PROFESSIONAL" role very well. Sickened me too much to float in those circles.
I prefer to be much more down to earth, practical, amongst the folks etc.
Okay I just reviewed my first answer, because I thought I'd answered and not ducked your non-political question. Now I will say it clearly: I would not recommend to my kid that she act like Ann does in public, but what I've seen and heard in public is fine, and if that's what my daughter did, I'd approve.
I think it is misunderstood -- a lot of people don't get the joke, just as many people don't get Rush's inflated assessement of himself ("every inch of my glorious naked body"). I think the wishing of rat poison and so forth is perfectly appropriate given the way spkesbabes of the left have, for example, wished heart-attacks on Clarence Thomas.
Ann is, IMHO, a satirist, and tht kind of remark is satire, or so I have taken such remarks coming from her.
But when I say Ann is a warrior, I mean that as a high compliment, and I would be proud if someone said my daughter was a warrior.

Point 2: Evolution = Evidence that Life Forms on Earth have diversified from similar origins to populate every niche (air, water and earth) over the hostory of the earth, which scientific learnign teaches us is in the hundreds of millions of years.
Point 3: Points one and two are NOT mutually exclusive. No less a "biased" observer than Pope John Paul The Great said so.
I agree with him. My Faith is based on belief. My scientific learning is based on observable facts.
I see no conflict between the two because the differing disciplines of Faith and Science are not in conflict unless they are being misused by dishonest men.
I think context is important--particularly with Ann's pontifications.
And, in terms of some Supreme Court idiots . . . their treason warrants some serious response of SOME kind.
Ann's hypothetical suggestion at least caught some people's attention and fostered some serious thought about how destructive the Supreme Court has been to our beloved republic.
WHEN--JUST WHEN
WOULD you advocate taking serious action against treason?
