St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers was vandalized and police believed the crime was linked to Tuesday’s date: 6-6-06. The graffiti on the steps and pillars of the seminary are extensive. A pentagram, upside-down crosses, and a quote from the John Milton classic "Paradise Lost" - "better to reign in hell than serve in heaven" – were all painted in black paint. The seminary was also defaced with the words "reign in blood" and the number 6-6-6.
“My immediate reaction was sadness,” Msgr. Peter Finn said. He believed the criminal was in serious need of counseling. “I would guess, I would think, somebody you know, thought a great deal of 6-6-6, and perhaps were reading about the re-release or the release of the updated version of The Omen, and what happened then I don’t know. It’s just a guess,” Finn said. The correct spelling of the word “reign” led Finn to rule out the possibility that those responsible were young. “Having been a high school teacher for many years, the odds of most teenagers spelling ‘reign’ other than ‘R-A-I-N’ are pretty slim.”
Yonkers police believe the vandalism took place between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday, because the paint smelled fresh when a maintenance crew arrived.

Terrorists? Doubtful. Hate criminals? Unlikely. My guess; this was done by Beavis and Butthead -- i.e. bored teenage death metal fans, the kind that like their musical schlock served up with black leather, pentagrams, and quasi-fascist imagery. You know, bands like Slayer. That's Slayer, the same group that released an album called "Reign In Blood" back in the '80s.
Incidentally, yesterday was "the National Day of Slayer", a day proclaimed by one of the group's fan clubs and dedicated to the band and its "music". Coinicidence? You be the judge.
How long before some conspiracy theorist links this with David Berkowitz (Son of Sam) of Yonkers and his alleged satanic cult of Yonkers's Untermeyer Park?
That monsignor is no Father Brown. A non-mispelled "reign" is no reason to rule out a couple of stupid Goth teenagers. And whoever they are they don't need "counseling", they need jail time!
There have been reports of this all over the country. My guess is the average age of the vandals is about 13.
