This poor little kid (see the video attached to the story). His mamma is dead. Gone. But that 911 dispatcher is still on the job - with benefits.

That operator could have had five prank calls. Kids calling in prior to that call. Then by all means, check the tapes.

What in the world? I thought that they still sent someone out to investigate prank calls?

In My city there is a law that each 911 call has to be investigated..granted it's not a big city..but I've been embarrassed twice this year because my home number is very close to 911..and I messed up only to have a cop stop by the office...
It's a true shame that city employees aren't held responsible for their action or lack of...

I don't care if she's been on the job for 20 years. Her inaction possibly resulted in the death of a human being. Manslaughter charges and at least a wrongful death lawsuit should be appropriate.........

Bull$hit!!!! the union will see to it that this pi$$ poor excuse for a human being keeps her job, and will probably get a raise to boot!! The people of Detroit have the services and representation that they elect.......... get rid of the hip hop mayor, and the celebrity, race baiting council, and maybe the city will have a chance.....

What in the world? I thought that they still sent someone out to investigate prank calls They do. A few years ago my daughter "accidently" dialed 911 and hung up.
The local Police were at my door a few minutes later. We had to prove to them that she was not in any danger.
My daughter learned that making prank phone calls can have consequences.

I bet she sends help the next time she gets a call from a 6 year old.
But she should be fired.

This is one time I hope for a lawsuit, a big one that this little kid can live on. And that dispatcher needs to go.

My department is small, but we go to every 911 call. Even if the dispatcher verifies that it is somebody playing with the phone. Larger departments like Detroit probably don't have the ability to do that. But this dispatcher should be suspended at the very least until the investigation is finished. Seems like common sense would tell somebody that a six year old probably will not be pranking 911.
