Me and Terrorist 007: Tracking a terrorist through cyberspace (Interesting Read)
LauraMansfield.com ^ | March 1, 2006 | Laura Mansfield

It’s been two years since I first locked horns with a cyber jihadi by the name of Terrorist 007. I was working as the assistant director for the Northeast Intelligence Network (NEIN) and a writer for World Net Daily when I ran into Terrorist 007, or Irhabi 007, on the old Ansar forum, an Arabic language message board frequently used by Al Qaeda sympathizers. Irhabi 007 was bragging about his hacking abilities, in an attempt to weasel his way into the “in crowd” of vetted jihadis. Over the next few months, I watched as Terrorist 007 began to establish himself as an expert, and gain the respect of the fellow jihadis.

I can't state the veracity of the article, but, if it is even remotely correct, I'm not that surprised at how good the jihadists are getting at using the internet. I was watching with interest the Denial of Service attacks at Michelle Malkin's site.

The author was working for WorldNutDaily and the Northeast Intelligence Network, organizations that have predicted exactly zero of the actual terrorist attacks out there and set off numerous false alarms. I leave the assessment of veracity as an exercise for the reader.

It's not uncommon for DoS attacks to be executed by buddies of the webmaster of a given site in order to generate hype and buzz.

I would be utterly unsurprised if "Terrorist 007" was an alter-ego of Laura Mansfield.

Seriously, just curious because you speak (type) with confidence: Did NEIN predict that one in California that Bush talked about in the State of the Union address?

I look at their web site occasionally, but must admit I don't know what to make of it.

:-)

No.

Those that know don't talk. Those that talk don't know.

The Capture of Terrorist 007
Updated: Tuesday, Mar. 28, 2006 - 5:37 AM

By J.J. Green
FederalNewsRadio

There has been a breakthrough in the search for a notorious cyber fugitive with ties to al Qaida. A very skillful hacker called "Terrorist 007" has been caught.

"He has masterminded the takeovers of dozens of servers and empty directories on U.S based webservers," including a George Washington University server, says terrorism analyst Evan Kohlman.

Kohlman says Irhabi 007 or Terrorist 007 hijacked web servers all over the world "in order to host beheading videos, in order to host audio recording of Abu Musab al Zarqawi, (and) in order to host jihad training manuals."

But last fall Irhabi 007 disappeared from the cyber community and the terrorist message boards on which he'd become a legend.

Laura Mansfield, an independent intelligence analyst, ran into Irhabi 007 a number of times in cyber space. She says "he was basically telling people how to make suicide bomb vests" and turn Pepsi cans into bombs."

Authorities connected the dots after raiding a house in West London in connection with a bomb plot and finding stolen credit card information linking Younis Tsouli to American Internet providers on whose servers he had posted jihadi propaganda.

Later they discovered that 22-year-old West Londoner, Younis Tsouli is Irhabi 007.
