Dell flirts with the Linux desktop
Desktop Linux ^ | Feb. 23, 2006 | Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols

Posted on 02/25/2006 7:09:32 PM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

Is Dell is on its way to becoming the first tier-one PC vendor to offer a mainstream business Linux desktop to US customers? It's starting to look that way.

In the recent past, Dell has toyed with shipping a Linux-powered PC to the US market. But, when push came to shove, the results -- a Dimension E510n PC shipped with an empty hard drive, a copy of the obscure, open-source FreeDOS operating system and no support if you did install Linux -- were less then impressive.

It's a different story for so-called workstations priced nearly as cheaply as desktops. Dell has started advertising a trio of affordable workstations with RHEL WS 4 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstation 4) preinstalled.

You can keep whining if you want, but like I already posted even Steven Vaughn Nichols has finally admitted his self created rumor was BS. Time for you to finally accept it, too.

"Last Thursday, when I wrote about Dell's new Linux desktop, was one of the most frustrating days of my professional life. My eWEEK colleague John Spooner and I tried our best to get Dell to confess that they really had released an honest-to-God Linux desktop. But Dell simply wouldn't do it."

Why do you keep repeating as if I said that I thought dell would go gung-ho on their cheaper lines? Oh I know why! You got caught lying and are trying to change the subject...

I like the idea.

Somehow, I can easily, and with much confidence, predict the winner.

"You didn't link or reference your quote, not to mention I was simply paraphrasing what these sources claim. Take it up with them."

LINK OR REFERENCE MY QUOTE? HAHAHAHA! It was YOUR quote!!!! It was on THIS PAGE! Why would I link to it? Hey, here's some advice for you...SCROLL UP!!!

Are you so dense that you can't even recongize what you've written in the past 24 hours, or are you so lazy that you can't go back and check to see what you wrote?

"I was simply paraphrasing..."

Wow. Did you go to the Bill Clinton School of Argument? When someone calls you on something ridiculous you said, you're somehow not responsible for it? Tell us now the conditions under which we're supposed to take you at your word and when we're supposed to disregard what you say.

BTW, any shred of credibility you might have had left just got flushed down the crapper. Unbelieveable.

We're all embarrassed for you.

You want to reference anyone's quote you need to reply to their original post or properly link it. Don't blame me for you not knowing jack squat about how to use a simple message board like this, which you are obviously still struggling with.

Now guys,

Golden DoDo has been embarrassed on this thread. Keep it under control, because he will try to get it pulled.

"You want to reference anyone's quote you need to reply to their original post or properly link it."

So, it's my fault I caught you denying what you said, because you never would have lied if you had a link to what you said? Do you realize what a stupid (and dishonest) statement that is? Keep wiggling; this is great fun for all of us!

"Don't blame me for you not knowing jack squat about how to use a simple message board like this, which you are obviously still struggling with."

Ha ha! Right!

And don't blame me for you not knowing how to scroll up or the inability to remember what you said. I guess when you lie so much, it's hard to keep up with your own position from one minute to the next, huh?

You DO realize that I'm only continuing to write just so we can all see what inane comment you'll make next, right?

You're just launching your normal personal insults since you've lost the debate completely, just like always. While you were slinging names and insults right and left, the author of the original article admitted it was all BS to begin with, and that he still can't get desktop computers from Dell with Linux pre-installed. All the rest of this is just you boys whining about it and thinking by insulting me for being right saves you some face, when all it really does is further show how clueless you are.

Ridiculous. I never complain to the admins, that would be newbi3 and shadowace, who whine to them constantly to delete posts and even entire threads whenever they get proven wrong, which is quite often. What in the world could have made you think that I was the one always crying my eyes out to the moderator, when I never do it?

But they're so pathetic, they won't cry to the moderator with a ping within the thread, they always do it privately so we can't see how many times they do it. What cowards, watch, they'll probably complain about this now, LOL.

And you're just ignoring the fact you said: "Dell made it almost impossible for them to buy a Linux system from them." Which were your words not supported by any article linked, a bald faced lie.

you've lost the debate completely, just like always.

Its easy to win a debate when you ignore when your own words are proven wrong, kinda like when you said "Dell made it almost impossible for them to buy a Linux system from them."

Dell did make it almost impossible, and Vaughn Nichols has already admitted the parent article of this thread was a lie, which you posted. The rest is just you whining about it, and attacking me since hardly anyone outside your cult cares anything about Linux.

Dell did make it almost impossible

You left out the rest of the quote or them to buy a Linux system from them."

Go to dell.com and type Linux in the search field tell me how impossible that is. I have posted links and specs on this thread of workstations pre-installed with Linux and Dell has *never* made getting a Linux server installed...

Vaughn Nichols has already admitted the parent article of this thread was a lie, which you posted.

I posted this thread? thats news to me! On my browser it shows 'Halfmanhalfamazing' as the poster..

The rest is just you whining about it

Pointing out your lie is not wining, no matter how many times you say it is. Nothing in the two links you posted in 35 indicates that.

and attacking me since hardly anyone outside your cult cares anything about Linux.

You care enough to be here every day, Hell I think you care about Linux more than I do..

you're actually right, I did make a mistake, which happens from time to time, although it is shocking it wasn't you since you maintain an "open source but not really open" ping list you use to post your propoganda constantly.

LOL, you admit the mistake about who posted this but you still cling to the "Dell made it almost impossible for them to buy a Linux system from them." lie...

I provided links like usual, you whined and called names like usual.

Oh and by the way Vaughn Nichols has already admitted the parent article was a lie, so you should go make sure he doesn't write any more articles claiming you can get Linux desktops from Dell. Since you can't, of course, no matter how much you like to cry about it.
