The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I have to admit, I don't understand half of it ;~D

The Farrier & Hoofcare Resource Center Forums (formerly the Bulletin Boards) - major problems

I'm tempted to post there and describe Bay's issues in the Navicular forum. I don't have any real recent pictures of his feet though. My farrier comes Tuesday.

Vet called yesterday morning and seems encouraged. Tuffy won't be coming home for a few days, yet.

Those farriers have forgotten about me, they are arguing amongst themselves. LOL!

Hair, you should post your questions. I'd love to see the responses as I've had horses with navicular issues. Bud's navicular bone is broken but after about 2 years he completely stopped limping on it. Just by watching him, you really can't tell he's got a major problem, he's just a little short strided.

I've registered there and I'm trying to compose a post. Since I don't have any current problems, it's gonna be a little tough for them to know what I want... I want a progress check and an expectation for the future I guess... and that's gonna be a little hard for them to do.

But my main question is... Why ~isn't~ Bay in wedges or bars? Everyone I know who's had a navicular horse has put them in wedges (except the barefoot people)... Bay seems fine, does he look ~good~?

I bet you'd get some interesting responses. If Bay seems comfortable and happy, I wouldn't change anything you're doing.

Did you want to put your question in the "farrier's helping farrier's" forum? I posted mine in the "farrier's helping horse owners" forum.

Yeah, but I bet you can ask the mods to move it. Some of those farriers are mighty snippy and might say something to you about it.

I sent a note to the mod.

Look under User CP - there's a place to either upload or link it. You have to make the pic small first.

LOL, I noticed that:)

I posted a thread too, about Harley's problems:). I'm registered as Harley's Owner. I'm still learning how to navigate over there. I'm not sure how people see a thread when you post it???

Thanks for the link to this tuffy. It will probably just confuse me more if I get any replies, but hey, it's interesting to get other opinions.

What do you set the "Default Thread Subscription Mode on"

I'm trying to figure out how you tell when someone replies?

When looking at your thread, I subscribed to it by clicking "thread tools" and then subscribing to it. It should send you an email if someone replies then, or you can just keep checking the thread in the forum.
