The important thing about bin Laden, Scheur says, "is that the coordination between what he says he's going to do and what he does is very nearly 100 percent over the past decade. He's a very deadly serious man."
Scheuer said the offer of a truce is "very similar to one he made to the Europeans about two years ago. They paid no attention to what he said and then, thereafter, al Qaeda did attack twice in London. I think it would be foolish not to take this as a very serious threat to the United States."

First, the Detroit area has the highest concentration of Muslims in America thanks to jewhating Henry Ford. After 911 crackdown, many arrests happened in Dearborn MI (adjancent Detroit). So, in terms of opportunity and willing participants, this is the best spot in the country for Bin Laden.
Second, as referred to in the article, according to former CIA agent Mike Scheuer, Bin Laden is close to 100% success on his threats. I wasnt aware of this myself, but I suspect he is right when it is Bin Laden himself who makes the threats. Before Scheuer said this, I thought that Laden's 'boy cried wolf' rate was laughable, but maybe those were not from Bin Laden himself (someone have info to verify Sheur's claim?)
SYNTHESIS: The message makes a threat and offers a truce. This language is perfectly consistent with Islamic mythology about war. Muslims commonly believe that their great warriors, such as sillyman (suileman), made some offer of truce before his great kill. Ofcourse the enemy refuses and the murder is all the more just. Schuer refers to this as well in a complete transcript of his interview.
What this means is that Bin Laden may be offering the 'truce' to make a future terror attack appear more just in the eyes of muslims. He can say he offered a truce as he did with europeans and appear more like their true leader (Caliph).
If this is the case, and there indeed is an imminent attack being planned, I think the SUPER BOWL IS A PRIME CANDIDATE due to the accesiblity by many muslims located near Ford Field and the tremendous theater of such an attack.

It appears that he believes a major event like the Super Bowl in Detroit should be a target that should be extremely secure given the recent resurfacing after approximately a year by OBL. I thought it was pretty obvious, but that's what he posted for whatever reason.
I had never heard about Ford before, though.
Off topic a bit, but does anyone else find it strange that most of the translations of OBL's screed leave out some very important details..like the bald face lies that OBL told concerning 'torture' at Abu Graib? OBL accuses our troops of drilling screwdrivers into his 'holy warriors' heads and of mass suicides among our troops. It is complete and utter bs of course, but isn't strange that the LSM seems to be hiding bin Laden's lies.

I think the media is hiding this part of the transcript because it makes THEM look bad for promoting and manufacturing the whole AbuGraib 'scandal'! OBL in 1998 wrote a Jihad Training Manual in which he instructs his 'warriors' to make claims of torture and abuse if they are caught and the media fell for it hook, line and sinker.
If the CIA doesn't value Scheurer anymore, why should I?
