The only thing I watch on BBC is Benny Hill.

I do watch other things on BBC...I enjoy their mysteries on Monday nites...

I like Benny Hill and if you can catch them on, Are You Being Served? and Father Ted are hilarious too.
I haven't watched Changing Rooms since the original host, Carol, left.
Is Are You Being Served the comedy that takes place in a British dept store? And is Father Ted the series that features Hugh Laurie(from Dr. House fame), or am I thinking of something else...I have seen, I think, snipets of both of these in commercials on BBC, but have not actually checked them out, as of yet...will do so, I do think that the BBC does run lots of interesting things...
The only problem is that they have the same 32 1/2 hour episodes and run them over, and over, and over...
Now I like his song 'Give me an older woman every time'...cant exactly remember the lyrics, but goes something like...

No, Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry were in "Jeeves and Wooster", the hilarious version of P.G. Wodehouse's classic stories. I'll always think of Hugh Laurie as Bertie Wooster, so it was really strange to see him in a serious dramatic role in "House".
I havent watched ill in YEARS I was probably 8 or 9 the last time i saw it. I used to like it when he would smack that little guy on the top of the head. :D
The little old bald guy is a legend. His name is 'Little' Jackie Wright. Keep an eye open for the Benny Hill bio that's on the History or the Biography channel.
Benny, like many of the alltime great comics and comedians (and I go by the oldschool distinction between the two) apparently was much of a loner and never much of a happy fellow.

I have never seen Jeeves and Wooster...the first time I saw Hugh Laurie, was in Sense and Sensibility, and tho his part was small, I took note of him at the time, as I found him to be an interesting character...so I was thrilled to see him starring in House, which I never miss...I also saw Laurie on some late nite talk program, and hes also a very interesting person as well...

Father Ted was filmed in Ireland with an Irish cast. It's about 3 misfit Catholic priests on Craggy Island.
It's not anti-Catholic, despite the premise, but it is very quirky. I don't how to describe it, but here's a link from Internet Movie Database if you ever want to check it out.
I have a cute story relating to 'little' Jackie...
In 1981, my brother died...on the day of the funeral, the limo came to my parents house, to pick the family up, and take us to the funeral home...my mom was watching out the window for the limo and when it pulled up,the driver got out of the car and my mom said, "Yikes, little Jackie is driving the limo...we thought mom, in her grief flipped out..we all ran to the window, and sure enough, from the 2nd story window, the limo driver looked like little Jackie...
When we got downstairs, and saw him up close, he looked even more like little Jackie...it was a moment of laughter among us, in spite of our grief...to this day, 25yrs later, everyone still remembers that little Jackie drove the limo for my brothers funeral...
Thanks to you also for the info...I think a lot of things on the BBC are hard to describe, and are also quirky...they are very different from American made programs...and a nice change, at that...
It's brilliant - especially the first two seasons. Maybe the second funniest TV series ever made (Fawlty Towers being #1 in my book). ;)
Great story! I can't look at Jackie Wright without smiling, and the smile usually gets bigger fairly quickly.
We do miss Benny, though. I was in law school when he passed away (Spring 1992?) and I remember learning the news and being royally bummed that whole week over it.
In some ways Benny Hill is like the British version of the Stooges. Classic show. Especially like it when he slaps the old pappy's head (and oogles at the chicks).
Laurie & Fry were also hilarious in Blackadder II through IV.
