Description: Milton Friedman sat down in 1994 to discuss F.A. Hayek's "The Road to Serfdom." Mr. Friedman, who wrote the introduction to the 50th Anniversary edition of the book, describes its effect on the ever-changing political and social climates of the twentieth century. He discusses the book's influence on the rise of socialism after World War II, the Reagan and Thatcher administrations in the 1980s and the shift in Eastern Europe from communism to capitalism in the 1990s.

Author Bio: Milton Friedman is the author of many books, including "A Theory of the Consumption Function," "The Optimum Quantity of Money and Other Essays," "A Monetary History of the United States," "Monetary Statistics of the United States," and "Monetary Trends in the United States and the United Kingdom." Mr. Friedman has also written on public policy with a primary emphasis on the preservation and extension of individual freedom. Some of the books in this field are "Capitalism and Freedom,' "Bright Promises," "Dismal Performance," "Free to Choose," and "Tyranny of the Status Quo."

Author Bio: George Galloway is the Respect Party's Member of Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow in London. He won the seat after his expulsion from the Labour Party for his opposition to the Iraq War. Christopher Hitchens is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and a visiting professor of liberal studies at the New School in New York.
