No :)

Not with cool things like DTrace, Zones and most of the source being opened up.

I am pretty sure other companies alter their products to fit other gov'ts needs, don't they?

Got anything on mind that's on par with Microsoft's soulless conduct? I personally cannot think of any other business that so readily made communist-sired ideological repression more streamlined.

Too busy calling me names and bolding your fonts, apparently.

And don't forget underlining words them too.  =)

Sun has seen the light and now fully supports Solaris X86. Just look at the number of AMD64/x86 boxes they sell these days. This isn't the same old (stupid) sun. :)

A turkish friend told me that you can buy Windoze XP for $1 on the streets of Istanbul. So, in some parts of the world, the competition is between two forms of "free" software.

One of them is a stolen product however. I personally don't believe in the US providing software welfare to the world, in any form. Our trade imbalance with foreign countries is great enough without us subsidizing them with freebies of anything.

hhhhhmmmmm .... somehow I think the reason is you don't want to "think" of another company being as souless because it lessens the impact of your post.

i think you got it backwards. linux is more popular amongst the PEOPLE of communist countries.

the GOVERNMENTS of communist countries prefer MICROSOFT, which is more than willing to deal with totalitarian governments and modify their product to the wishes of the government and allow those governments to control what the people are allowed to see and do with their computers, whereas with linux, the PEOPLE have the source code and the compilers and can change the code to circumvent these controls, and are thus not as easy to control...

Okay, I give. You tell me then. If it's so common, let's hear it.

Is this the Evolution/Creationism ping list?

Oh, sorry, it's the Free Software Developer/Saleried Software Developer ping list!

Keep me on it!

I asked you, since you accused Microsoft of it, if you checked to see if they were the only ones who alter their products to suit ChiCom demands.  If not, that's fine.  But it would make your statement stronger had you done it.

"To blame ONLY Microsoft is pretty ridiculous."

Oh, they also blame Wal-Mart.

You claimed there must be a lot of companies doing as much on par with Microsoft's conduct. Thus, the onus of proof is on you...not me.

Oh, they also blame Wal-Mart.

Is it a coincidence that they blame two of the largest and most successful American companies?  Is it simply petty jealousy or {whisper} something more sinister?
