Teen dies trying to save father in home invasion: Alleged gang pair nabbed in slayings By Tom Farmer Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - Updated: 06:19 PM EST
A heroic Lynn teenager sacrificed her own life in a vain attempt to save her handicapped father from a hail of bullets allegedly fired by Asian gangbangers late Monday.
Both Amy Dumas, 16, and her father, Robert Finnerty Sr., 47, were killed in the shocking home invasion that may have followed a thwarted attempt by the killers to buy drugs.
``She got in front of him. She was trying to protect him,'' a tearful Debbie Patrazza said of Dumas, her niece.
``Who would think he would be shot sitting in his chair with his 16-year-old daughter trying to protect him,'' Patrazza said of Finnerty, her brother-in-law.
Finnerty and Dumas were shot multiple times just after 11 p.m. Monday when four men forced their way into their Cottage Street apartment, authorities said. Within minutes, two reputed gang members, Chon Son, 19, and Phap Buth, 30, of Revere, were under arrest. Two others are being sought.
Son, who sources said belongs to the ``Oriental Boys'' gang and is well known to local police, was arrested at an apartment building two streets away that prosecutor John Brennan said is known for Asian gang activity. Police seized a Tech-9 semiautomatic handgun and a .380-caliber handgun on a third-floor landing where Son was standing, he said.

This man suffered a tragic loss in a most despicable manner by thugs who need to be removed from society. Unfortunately, when one chooses to deal drugs from their home they are bound to make the acquaintance of some pretty unsavory characters.
Drug dealers make perfect home invasion targets as they typically have large amounts of cash and drugs on hand and are unlikely to report the invasion to police.
Please don't hammer me for "blaming the victim" as I'm just stating some obvious facts about dealing drugs from one's home.
But, but according to many Freepers, Asians are a "model minority" and only Latinos are capable of being gangbangers /sarcasm.
Sarcasm noted. That being said, when it comes to ruthlessness, Black and Latino gangs are pikers compared to Asian (and Russian) gangs.
What is surprising about this story is that it appears the victims were not Asians. Asian gangs almost always prey on their own.
According to some FReepers the world is still flat.
Based on my experiences living in Brooklyn and Seattle, you are correct. There were several cases in recent memory in which (specifically) Chinese immigrants were brutally murdered in home invasions, dismembered bodies and all. In cases where the perps were caught, they were associated with criminal Tongs.
The Albanians are pretty brutal too. Its one thing to shoot a man dead, quite another to often castrate him and leave him dead with said member in his mouth.
Can you name a few, or are you describing yourself here?
Asian and Russians don't really have gangs (although Oriental Boyz is a gang in the L.A. tradition) they're mostly organized crime groups who may have some influence by gangs, such as being taxed by the homies if you know what I mean.
Just look at who is locked up and who does what and then you'll see who is ruthless. I only say this so that you get a better grasp of reality and your surroundings cuz what you said contradicts what I know.
Asians do tend to do well, better, than latinos and blacks in the U.S. So I don't get your sarcasm. Why shouldn't they be praised as a group for that? I think it's good to encourage others to do well by good or "model" examples.
You must be awfully young to not know what 'flat earthers' are. Google it, enlighten yourself. This'en was about the fourth one listed, but there are a ton of 'em.

Yet you have still not named one geocentrist.
Nor am I going to.
There goes your red-herring argument against "some" FReepers
Nevermind, checked your profile, class of fall '04. Carry on.
No problem.. I just found it interesting that you went out of your way to make a social comment regarding religion on a thread about gangstaz. Kind of a drive-by polemic, huh.
The point wasn't religion, the point was 'some FReepers' believe most dang anything. The original reply was to a post which has sarcasm tags, and saying something like 'most FReepers believe (some dang stereotype). Stereotypic and generalized 'most FReepers believe' opinions are always held by 'some FReepers'.
>>I think it's good to encourage others to do well by good or "model" examples.<<
Isn't there an age limit where the effectiveness of the encouragement slows dramatically, such as 9 or 10 yrs old?
